TRD E-LOCKER in a 1st gen?

TRD E-LOCKER in a 1st gen?

I have a buddy that is sellin me an e-locker out of a TRD Taco to go in the rear of my 1st gen. 4runner, and he tells me there are few if any mods I need to do...Fact or Fiction? Has anyone done it and I just couldn't find it?

you may be better off swaping out the whole rear axle for a newer locked axle.

That axle will be to wide for a 1st gen 4runner

Oh, O.K. I believe its a fairly common mod to go to a 1986 - 1995 rear axle, but come to think of it I don't think any of those years had the lockers yet (pre-Tacoma). Those axles added 3" width, and All Pro make a spacer kit for the front to match the rear. ANyway, good luck.

try searchin here or on 4x4wire's BBS...there are multiple acticles on the necessary housing modifications to make the e-locker 3rd member fit in a non-TRD axle. People spend a long time writing up these reviews, so spend a minute and research it.

Search under "carrier" or "differential". I got mine from there. About $300.
