Tranny question
Do the V6 5-speeds bolt up to the 22re's? I'm looking to do a 5-speed swap on my 85 and wasn't quite sure. Also, anyone have any bad 5-speeds layin around? I'm looking to rebuild one. Thanks for the help.

It's my understanding that the V6 (R150) tranny will not directly bolt up to a 4CYL. There may be adapters available however.
I know many companies make adapters to bolt the 4CYL gear driven transfer cases to the back of a R150, even though I realize that was not your question.
You have to address the bell housing bolt pattern as well as a difference in output shaft spline count.
4CYL: 21 spline. V6: 23 spline.

Stock for stock, the answer is NO. It doesn't bolt up.
You can go:
4cyl gas engine (22RE) bolts to turbo truck's 5 speed (R151F) bell housing, bolts to V6 5 speed tranny (R150). Use the V6/turbo clutch.
BUT!
No one ever does this because not only is the R151F bell housing hard to find, but also
with the R150 transmission, you are stuck with the chain drive (VF2A) transfer case. (2.57 low range).
Unless!
You buy an adapter and 23 spline t-case input shaft so you can bolt a gear drive (RF1A) T-case to the R150 transmission.
Then you can run lower t-case gears or dual cases.
Best bet for you:
1985ish 5-speed (W56) transmission. You get the RF1A gear driven case that way. Saves you money when you want lower t-case gears. Probably not as strong as the "R" series transmission, but is well proven behind the 4cyl gas engines.
