what was your problem? high-centering, or just total lack of traction?

top of the list should be at least a rear locker. lockers will get you farther than any other modification.

may i ask what a locker would have done in this case? i had no traction what so ever my front end dug itself into a hole. again im still new so im not sure if what a locker would have done. cause i couldve sworn all my tires were running cause i locked my center diff. all reponses appreciated : )

still stuck? or just a close call? you oughta consider a winch and $300 of recovery gear if you're the go-it-alone-in-mud type ;-) re the tires, if you'll be doing a lot of muddy trails, you're on the right track with the MTs. a lot of folks really like the BFG MTs as well. you oughta be able to clear the 33s with the 2.5" lift. i did 5" and mine look puny... then again, i was also thinking of 35s at some point, so doing a bigger lift now was probably the right approach. lockers would help in terms of controlling the spin and getting you through some more challenging areas, but since you don't have a sig i can't tell what you are driving. if you're gonna be in there doing the TC UCA, why not also do the lower BJ uniball conversion too... my lower BJs were going out all the time, so hopefully this will take care of it. then again, with all this stuff, why not just go for the TC "caddy" susp system? it's all of this, gets you some serious lift, does 6" offset (3/side), makes you ready to clear 33s and does some serious conversion and beefing up of your IFS. initially i didn't opt for it because of the cost, but overall my lift cost ended up comparable anyway, and i don't have the full TC setup. grumble, grumble. just my 2¢...

By 'locked my center diff' do you mean transfer case? Were 99's equiped with variable tc's? The rear locker kyle is refering to is a rear diff locker. When engaged it provides 100% traction to both rear tires. Instead of just one, as in an open diff.

Locking your center diff doesn't make power go to all four tires. See this thread;

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/standard-center-diff-lock-55156/

It just makes and equal amount of power go to the front and rear, but since your diffs are open, it gets wasted anyway

Unless you were high-centered where your rig is sitting with all it's wheels off the ground, lockers in the axles would have improved the situation.

Get yourself a HiLift Jack.

You can use it to Winch yourself out and to lift your vechile outta the mud to stick stuff under the tires.

You can pick up Hi Lifts for under $100.00

First off, always go out with at least one friend

Second, if you weren't high centered then go with either a winch or a locker. The winch if you plan on getting stuck alot or going out with no one else again. The locker is if you want to be impressive. Course a locker will be helped tremendously with the addition of some good offroad tires like mud terrains.

My recommendation is to go out with some friends buy the lift and the tires so when you do get stuck you have someone to help you out and then when you get enough money, re-gear and lock the diffs or buy an offroad bumper with a winch. If you like going out alone buy the winch, if you are going to continue going out with friends, buy the lockers.
