my new project! Can't wait
well I finaly figured out what I'm going to do! I'm putting the chev 350 on a 1985 Toya frame that has been completely sandblasted and painted. Then I'm going to get the 1987 4runner body and mount it on the frame and then do a 6 "suspension lift and then tuck some 35" tires that will be 16" wide then to top it all off I will be mouting a 9000lbs winch on the front and another on the back (just in case)
Then to top it all off we will be transfering a 2500 Watts stereo system in it and just for the record all the body will be sandbasted and repainted viper blue. Then I will be getting 2 suspension seats with4 point harness. Can't forget the snorkel in case i go in some real deep stuff!
And if we get enought time we will make room for a mini fridge to be installed in btween the two front seat and an inflatable matress with build in 12 Volt pump in the rear and a custom rack on the roof for spare parts and my Miller 12 Volt welder!
I can't wait!!! Not gona cost alot either.
1987 4runenr $100 tradding motor and drive train to a buddy of mine for the rims and tires
1985 frame with the lift is going to put me back 2 weekends for redoing another buddies roof and installing his car stereo
and the 350 is one that I had for my V8 S-10 swap.
Stereo is in the S10 now.
so it will only cost me the winchs and $100

I work at a heavy equipment rental place so I can borrow a sandblaster from work and all the tools necesary.
I got the garage and all that fun stuff
I'll be offroading in about 2 to 3 months!
I'm going to call it the "Toyota Chev"
And there will be no FORD parts whatsoever
Wish me luck!!!!!!!

It sounds more like a Toylet to me. Get it, toy let. Im done now.
big suggestion for you though. Instead of hardmounting two winches on the truck, get one and get a warn Mulit-mount. Get a front bumper with a reciever in it and same with the rear, so you can interchange it from front to rear, and even to other vehicles. This is what im doing, so i only have to buy 1 winch for the two trucks.

For Ford parts, nothing wrong with a few key well-chosen ones. I'm currently running a Ford rear axle and radiator. Over the course of time, my truck has had parts from:
Toyota (several different models present),
Chevrolet (engine still there, TH350 gone),
Buick ("Supercharged" badging still there),
Ford (rear axle, radiator still there, 2bbl carb gone),
Eagle (rear wheel studs still there),
Cadillac (electric air compressors still there),
Jeep (PTO driven air compressor still there),
GMC heavy truck (SM420 transmission still there),
Pontiac (carburetor gone),
BMW (colant reservoir gone),
Volkswagen (vacuum fittings gone),
Chrysler (carburetor gone),
and a few other that aren't coming to mind. Most of these are little odds-n-ends parts. You'll find over time that no manufacturer makes everything that best suits the truck.

Thanx for all the support. And for $$ I'm too worried I made a budget of $2500 for all the misc stuff. Figured that would be plenty. But for all the big stuff I got a great deal on them. Same as most of the small stuff, I can just do a favor for a bud and he will hook me up with some stuff I need. Just to keep you all updated, Frame is all blasted and 90% done the welding. Need to paint and then mount the motor and tranny. Anybody have any more suggestions??
