Which lift is cheaper?

I'm thinking about getting a lift, should I consider a; front stage 1-2 pro-comp lift with a rear leaf spring conversion with taller leaves, or, a full pro-comp, skyjacker, and other brands, lift-kit. I wanna get a 1-2'' body lift also, but I have an auto

I hear the rear leaf spring conversion is cheaper, and less of a hassle than a lifted rear coil set-up.

What type of wheeling are you looking into? For example, you could fit 33's, save a whole lot of dough on the lift by visiting www.4crawler.com, and spend the money on a lockers/gears whichh will really make your truck more capable.

Normal wheeling like driving in mud, puddles, water; that kinda wheeling. No hardcore off-roading. I'll get 4:88 gears once the 33's are installed. Lockers, not quite, since I plan on using my yota for a daily driver. I'll probably get a used LSD.

33's are easy to fit, you don't need a 4" lift.

Go to www.4crawler.com and you find an effective and economical solution.

The problem is, I like to be king of the road by having a taller rig than those tiny hondas It sure helps to see over them cars in a parking lot.

I had a 93 with a 4" Superlift and 33x12.50 Trxus M/Ts. It was nice, and taller than those "tiny hondas". It's a good setup. Even if you aren't going to be off-roading a lot, but want the 4" of lift, make sure you get one that has the one piece subframe. Those are the Superlift and either Tuff Country or Trail Master.

the shifter has a linkage that must be adapted to work... the manual shifter is part of the tranny and works independent of the body

Definitely get the 1 piece drop brackets. That means Superlift, TuffCountry, SkyJacker and Black Diamond. Trail Master and Procomp have bolt together drop brackets.

All of them, IIRC. The auto's shifter is bolted to the body and has a linkage that connects it to the tranny. The brackets are cheap - nothing to worry about, just be aware of it.

1st and 2nd gen 4Runners w/ automatics need a bracket for the linkage with lifts of 2" or taller:

http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/...html#ATbracket

3rd gens are fully adjustable, so that is not an issue. Good recipe fro fitting 33" tires on my web page:

Having a taller truck also helps to roll over the top of those tiny hondas to get a parking spot quicker that someone else may be eyeing.
