Intake Routing Into Cab?

Whats up everyone! so i've recently completed my 3.4 conversion with the exception of my speedometer and my trying to decide between a hood scoop or a body lift. but check out my swap thread! anyhow, i just ordered my amsoil airfilter for the 3.4 and was wondering, has anyone ever tried routing their intake system into the cab? i was HIGHLY considering it but i wanted some trusty yotatech input first before i go for it! let me know what you guys think!

Assuming you're considering that because you don't want a snorkel? I've heard of people doing it, but it seems like it would be pretty loud. Another option to consider is routing the intake inside the fender up to the windshield cowl. It's covert and out of the way of water unless you're up to your hood. When i finally do something about my intake that's what i'm doing.

Why??

Give your reasoning behind this idea.

first i think the plumbing would be a nightmare.

Not having read your build thread If this is going to be a off road vehicle only with no inspection and not ever driven on the street.

Has the heater box also been removed ..

I can`t see where you would have a big enough area to cut that size hole in the firewall..

But bottom line it is your vehicle if that is what you want go for it!!

Just like the Hot Pink paint job I am getting soon.

If water ever rolls over my hood i wont suck in any water. period. no mud either. plus if i ever roll over on side i wont crush my air filter or snorkel. the fender wall and into the wiper cavity is actually a decent idea although like you said it'd still suck in water but. i may look into that. intake noise is the best sound a motor makes other then a turbo or a super charger IMO so i wouldn't mind it. and this rig is going to be driven on the street. not sure why that matters

Are you running a switched electric fan or are you going to pull you fan belt and what are your plans for water proofing?

Running the 3.4 fan right now. i wanted to run electric fans to relieve the motor of unnecessary lag but i haven't done it yet. no other water proofing plans yet but i've sealed all my wire loom and replaced all taped connectors with glue shrink wrap. still have to put that stuff on the electrical connectors itself (dialectric grease right?). other then that i dont have any axle breathers or any of that yet. although i dont plan to emerse the truck fully till i have a trailer to tow it home on in case

to me that would be really loud in the cab. but it seems like it would get you the cleanest coldest air possible.

The 3.4 breaths really loud. I would snorkel or run in high into the wiper cowl.

I'll have to look into the wiper cowl deal. I think my filter is too big. 6" dia on the MAF side and 5" dia on the other end and its 9" long.

I will agree with intake sounds of a good motor being awesome, and an interesting fact, the newer 5.0 Mustangs actually run a smaller diameter (probably ~1") line off the intake tract into the cabin. The engineers didn't think you could here enough of that V8 music while driving.

However, the entire intake being in the cab, on a daily driver, would become rather droning.

If it was a DD....its my weekend warrior. looking in the cab there isn't really sufficient room for the size air filter i have.
