Drop brackets in the front, leafs in the rear.

Hey, a while ago I posted a build up. I finally finished rebuilding my motor and transmission. Took a while because I tried to replace most parts, or sand blast them and repaint. Finding time was hard, having paddling practice 6 days a week.

Anyways, I'm finally ready to get started on my suspension. This is a 1990 4runner.

In the rear, I want to get rid of my my coils and put in leaf springs. Can the hanger and other parts be made myself? I have 24/7 access to the largest machine shop in the state, and I already have my navy and abs welding certification. If anyone could help me with planning the fab work, that would be awsome.

In the front, I was told to use drop brackets. I'm not the most knowledgeable guy about suspension, but is this the mount that holds the control arm (the big U pipe looking that that goes from the driver side to passenger side)?

I would guess that if I did this, I should find a stronger control arm? All I need to know is how exactly I make this give lift, and I'll make the strongest drop bracket you ever seen.

I wanted to gain 4" of lift in the front, and get leafs that give 5" of lift, so it should even out.

Any help is appreciated!

Rear leaf swap:

You can pick up a bracket lift kit for the front, maybe find a used one from someone doing a solid axle swap.

A friend told me I could just make a drop bracket for the control bar and that would give me the 4". Do i need an entire kit?

If you have access to the fab equipment, I would stay with the rear link setup - just make newer, beefier (and maybe longer) links.

Being that you're in Hawaii ... I'm not sure I want to ask how much lift you're looking for and what size tire you want to run ....

Why replace more flexible coils for leaf springs? WTF, I'm kinda slow but anyway, no didn't look at the pretty links.

For real why put springs in the rear and bracket lift in the front? Are you retarded?

Are you looking for a truck that looks good when you go to the mall? Are you retarded?

All am asking is for some simple information. Please are you mentally handicap?

To run 33X20" tires, with my calculations, you'll need 12" suspension and 3" of body lift.
