Donahoe FJ coilovers on 4th gen 4runner

Does anyone have knowledge on the difference between the FJ and 4runner DR coilovers?

I was told by Harry at Wheelers, Donahoe told them the FJ would work on the 4runner and that the valving is set stiffer to accomidate the FJ heavier weight.

When I checked the vehicle weights out, the 4runner was actually a bit heavier than the FJ so this doesn't seem to make sense.

From Motortrend website -
2006 4runner w/V8 curb weight 4280 lbs
2007 FJ w/v6 curb weight 4050
2006 Tacoma w/V6 curb weight 3955 lbs

The DR front CO PN are:

5-8630 4runner/Tacoma
5-8640 FJ Cruiser

I plan to put a Shockworks bumper and winch on the front and was hoping for a bit stiffer valving to accomidate for the V8 (+190 lbs) and the SW bumper. With DR closing their doors and my desire to put DR coilovers on my 4runner, I purchase the FJ coilovers from Wheelers.

I also picked up the DR rear coils and shocks as well as a set of Camburg UCA's in the deal.

From my research the FJ and 4runner have the same rear end and the part numbers from Donahoe reflects this as well. They are the same for both rear shocks (5-7510) and coils (5-2700).

The front ends I understand are also the same being based on the Prado 120. The Camburg UCA's fit all three 4runner/Tacoma/FJ and is so marked on the box they came in.

So my delema is "will the FJ Donahoe CO's (5-8630) give me a bit stiffer front end than the 5-8630?" I have not been able to get in contact with ICON Vehicle Dynamics (bought Donahoe Racing) by phone or email yet.

I can still return these CO's within 30 days if I want to...as long as I don't mount them first!

Any insight would be much appreciated.

My guess is that they are the exact same coilover and valving for all three. The 2nd gen tacoma, 4th gen 4runner and FJ. If I were you I'd just wait to hear from Icon. They should be able to get back to you email within a couple days. Who did you email over there?
