ive seen a lot of setups and i just got mine, some people put the body up and the rod/boot down, and some do it reversed. the directions say body up, so why do people put it down?

It shouldn't make a difference since your Bilsteins can be mounted can up or can down. Some other shocks are designed to be mounted either can up or can down. Clearance issues may be a factor in your setup where the location of the can may be more ideal in the can-up or can-down position.

 

just wondering why the directions say reservoir up?

ill probably go with that unless theres some clearance problem.

I have noticed that with the body up less crap tends to build up around the piston to body area

 

I believe that they are made to point in specific directions to avoid shock fade. I think it has something to do with how they want the gas to press the oil against the valve.

I prefer the body up.

 

It's for several resons, one is becouse the compression and rebound valving are diffrent. and all the reasons above.

 

i mounted them body up like the directions said.
