axle rebuilt question.

axle rebuilt question.
im rebuilding the front axle to finish off my SAS, how are the felt rings supposed to go over the knuckles? ive tried, and they just wont stretch far enought to fit, i really dont want to tear them. any tips for doing this??

Never had any trouble getting them on when I've rebuilt axles:

You can cut them if needed, just find the top and snip the ring of felt. I've done this when I've replaced just the rubber and felt wipers with the knuckle in place.
