1rst gen to 2nd gen mechanically?

would i be able to swap parts from an 88 runner (specifically front end parts, cv's, manual hubs etc) to a 92 4runner? if so, what other 'upgrades' could i do from the same swap?

sure you can use the hubs, and halfshafts. I would recomend buying new halfshafts unless your just asking so you can use them as "trail spares"

by half shafts you mean the inner and outter cv joint and shaft connecting them? my cv's are majorly pooched so i am just looking to replace them possibly even temporarily until i get my front end set up properly.

excuse me not knowing this , but why not? if they appear to be in better shape than what you are driving with wouldnt it be logical to save alot of cash going that way?

well, first its somewhat of a job. When I did mine I also put in bearings, and ball joints. I myself wouldn't waste my time putting used shafts in, and have them break or wear out in no time, but if money is a issue and you have to do it, its ok.
