Where is a Tundra Forum?
This site has a great forum for the 4Runner. But I just got a new Tundra Double Cab. I have searched but have not found anything that is even closely equivalent.
Thanks for any assistance.

Hey Bigstew, I've been ghosting on here for a while now and since you can't find a good tundra forum I figured we could help turn this one into one. I've been on TS but I hate paying for info when I know some of the people there are friendly enough to tell you anything you want to know. So where do you want to start. Wish I had waited a year for a DC!

All it takes is the interest of the Tundra members here to get this going and spread the word.

But I'll try and take pictures next time and write up articles and so forth.
Ask any questions though BigStew, and I'll try to help you out as best as I can.

Here is my take. I am not sure how to get the word out? (I don't know any other Toyota owners). But when I first got the Tundra I came to this site for information. In the Tundra forum there were very few posts and some posts have no replies.
Maybe we need to just get a few real basic questions, e.g. fuel mileage, oil, tires, etc. Then make sure we all reply, even if we don't have an answer. Then anyone happens along they will at least see current posts and replies.
I will start by posting a tire related thread. And then I'll reply to AndroT100's rough running question.
Whadya think?
I will also say I tend to go overboard at first reading and replying. But as time goes on my interest will taper off. But I will give it shot for now.

I would like to have more info on the Tundras here at Yotatech. I am contemplating buying a Tundra acces cab or a Tacoma D cab right now. I found the Tundrasolutions site and don't really care for it. Much of the info (posts) there is old and not free. Many of the posts were like which one of the two was better, biggest and rides like a Caddy. The last two things I don't want. I would like to see the info here about differences in model years etc. I never realized stuff about the Tundras like- there are different bumpers/grilles, the TRD doesn't have a locker, the steering wheels are different, the d cab Tundra is a LOT bigger than the access cab in all ways, and the rear windows don't go down in the acces cab. A lot of little things, but they matter to me. I found out all this out by visiting the dealer. The rear window thing may force me to get the Tacoma d cab, because I don't want a hugh truck to get roll down rear windows. If only I knew this one thing long ago I probably would'nt have looked at the Tundra, but have still not ruled them out. A V-8 would be nice.
So if you guys could get some more Tundra info here it would be great. Yotatech would be one stop shop for all your Toyota needs. Thanks guys

Mohamed's right, I've heard the 05 will get the VVT 4.7 with 280+ HP, so if more horsies are what you need you may want to hold off. As for size I love the size of the access cab, its just big enough for my family but it still fits everywhere i need to go (even an atv trail at obx-brushing both sides of the truck just going straight down the trail).
I don't mind not having roll down rear windows, but I would prefer not to have suicide doors-they are a PITA in a parking lot full of other cars. I think the DC is a lot bigger than I'd like but as the family groes up that may become a moot point.
The Titan drives great. Not as cushy as the stock Tundra but not as rough as a Ford or Dodge. Its way quicker than my Tundra! We had both at obx this year and the Tundra drove a lot easier through the sand. You had to use a lot more throttle to get the Titan through the sand. Of course, I have way better tires than the Titan had so that could have something to do with it. I prefer my Toyota.

I'll try to pop in more often
I've modded my tun far beyond its original specs.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I am a moderator on TS so if you have any Q's about what goes on there I'd be happy to help out with what I can. Not everyone digs how the site is set up, but thats for each individual to decide for themselves.
Besides, the emoticons are much better here

Man i would be very happy if this forum started to get a lot of tundra info. I have been over to ts and just dont like their setup. First question for u out there that have 17 in wheels I am sure you have noticed selection is limited in the 265/65/17 almost 31 in would 265/75/17 about 32 in tires fit without rubbing . I have the dunlop grandtek but on a 4x4 they just dont cut it. I might even step down to 16 in rims there is a whole lot more available in that size and better when u air down. good luck and i hope this takes off hope to hear from ya thanks

Yes, 16" is the smallest size wheel you can run on normal Tundras. This is due to the brake calipers on the front axle. You only have metric sizes to choose from with 16's (like 265/70 for instance), while the 15" wheels have a veritable plethera of diameters and widths to choose from.

I'm also a Tundra owner, a 2000. But, I'm in the process of selling it at the moment. If anyone is looking for a nice/good used Tundra, let me know. Also, if anyone has any questions about them, I could help out there too. Thanks.
