Welcome to the site. Sounds like you have every option. But there is always something...I want a rear locker! Went from an F350 Diesel to a 4Runner to the Tundra DC. So far the Tundra does everything I want it to do, better than the Ford and better than the 4Runner.

MrBig,

Tanks for the welcome.

Yeah, this time around I made sure this one had pretty much what ever options Toyota had...from exhaust tip (valor) to transmission cooler. Only thing it aint got is 4WD...but have never needed it before, besides wife has one of them AWD things, so were ready if it ever snows in Los Angeles.

My plan is NOT to MOD the crap out of it...I do how ever have a plan for my DVD player, using software, convert my mp3's or use what BMW uses- IPOD or ....

Oh well, day one and im already thinking stuff up

I found that the stock DVD player plays all my DVD-shrink & dvd decrypt files...thats cool.

After I built up my 95 4Runner, I sold it to Wynn, another forum member. I bought a 2000 Tundra 2WD SR5 Access Cab. V8 power is nice. The color is Thunder Grey with OEM Chrome wheels. The only modifications I did is a Retrax Rolltop Cover. I plan to keep it stock and simple. I sometimes post on Tundrasolutions.com, great forum members but I still have to open up my wallet to be able to see other posts.

I also run a Tundra and will share my limited knowledge and experience with others. I've got pictures showing how to change out your transmission fluid (a complete change using the cooler lines), which relay to jump to make your extra 12V outlets hot all the time etc. I tried running offroad with the Tundra in IFS mode but stopped that foolish idea and now have a Dana 44 up front, a Marlin Ultimate Crawler and a Y 4-link coil setup in the rear. If there's a place to post pictures or small write-ups on maintenance, I'd be happy to contribute.

I would love to know how to keep the power outlets hot all the time. My other option would be to pay my money on ts (tundrasolutions)...no wait a minute...free information on the information superhighway...or pay in advance on the information toll road...even I can do that math!

I would like to see a Tundra Tech Tip category...how about it moderators?

You would want to jump this relay.

It's located in your fuse box in your engine bay (I believe on the driver's side). Yank out the 12V relay colored a turd brown I think it's labeled "OUTLETS". Slowly pry the brown cover off the white bottom portion. When you open it up it will have an anvil with a white backing, you should see how the anvil moves when there is power contacted, so all you do is wedge like a small piece of plastic (I broke a section of a 3.5" floppy disk and used that) in between the white housing and the anvil so it pushes constantly down on the contact, put it back in, and volia, full time power outlet. You don't need to worry about melting stuff as apparently there is a fuse somewhere in the line, (i haven't checked, but mines been like this for three years and no problems). As a suggestion, that relay is so freakin hard in there, I used a pair of pliers to grab it and pull it out.

Here's its location. Just remove the relay, make a small jumper, coat the jumper prongs with a light grease to prevent corrosion, jump the relay and you're finished. For some reason, unknown to me, I can't figure out how to post the picture bigger than a thumbnail - If anyone wants a larger picture just e-mail me.

Hi Joe! I also live in Fargo. Just bought a new 2004 Tundra Double Cab from Corwin. Can you send me the larger version of this pic? Will this also provide constant power to the cigarette lighter, or just the additional outlets?

If not to the cigarette lighter, could I run a fused hot wire from under the hood and tap into the feed to the cigarette lighter? That is the most convenient location for my cell phone adapter.

Thanks!
Scott

This mod will not work on a DC, the wiring for the power outlets is different then the access cab and standard cab models. In the DC there is no Power Outlet relay. The power outlets are in circuit with the ACC relay. Although, you could jumper the ACC relay that will leave all the ACC circuits hot all the time.

how about a TUFF COUNTRY 5" LIFT.. then put 33's on em! - or 35's with a Body lift! =)- possibly some regearing- then maybe a supercharger- ARB bumper - then add a winch -oh yeah.. rock sliders- hmm.... roof rack.. well hey, at least this is wat i would do if i had money! Dont forget to get an ATV to put in the bed! =)

Headers make more of a difference than a muffler in the Tundra's...I know in the old 2nd gen Runners a better flowing muffler was necessary but in Tundra's the exhaust is actually well laid out, except for the exhaust manifolds...headers are always better.

I'm a tundra owner also. Just like Tedd's, mine is highly modified. Supercharged, 5 link straight axle, 14" lift, lockers and on and on. I like tundrasolutions, and contrubute there regularily, but would be happy to help out here for the serious dirt types doing advanced mods.

How's everything going flyin6? I haven't been spending as much time at TS since I sold my Tundra. But, I got a new toy last week... Have you seen it? You probably wouldn't like it, it's a beach buggy as opposed to a rock crawler...

Hey, I'd like it if it's anything off road! So what do you think of the direction this truck has taken? I think I need to get it a few inches lower (not easy with those coil-overs) to minimize roll-over potential.

Mine is the one in my avatar. You'rs looks GREAT! I wish I had the knowledge, time and resources to do that. Min'es too high also. I'll probably remove the body lift and/or the rear blocks and change some other suspension-related things to make it a little more rock capable, as opposed to just beachy...
