That thing looks cool, always loved the look of the runners and the tacos. How does the engine pull with those steam roller tires?

The Tundra came into existence in what...2000? 1999? So it has been around 5-6 years?

The 4Runner came into existence in 1984...see the difference?

I've owned a 2000 4x4 Black 4x4 TRD package rig...it was sweet, but too dang expensive to do anything to then...now if I still owned it and it was paid for...then I might start hacking on it.

I'll have a Tundra sometime in the next few years as the early ones are pretty cheap used and would make a decent tow rig for my 85!

Good luck guys!

Thanks. The engine has been rebuild, bored out, it has Downey headers, free flow air filter, etc. and it also has 5.29 gears, so it actually handles the tires and lift without a problem. I drove it from Raleigh to Kill Devil Hills and didn't have any problem with highway speeds (70 mph in NC).

What's this mean? I'm not sure what you're saying here, or in reference to what?

I have owned a FJ-40, my first toy, then an early IFS truck, then a 1990 extra cab, then a 1999 TRD Taco, now finally the hefty Tundra. Liked each for different reasons. My favorite if I was a single guy with no family (which I am not) would be the FJ-40. Second would have been my Taco, built like my Tundra currently is with that sweet 4.7 (supercharged of course) V8.
What tires do you like for the sand? what about all around best tire considering your tundra and runner experience?

For sand, I'm not sure yet. I haven't had enough experience in the sand yet. I know my TrXus MT's didn't do well in the sand, they dug in too much. The 4Runner has TrXus STS's, but I haven't had it out on the beach yet. For you, where you live, you have rocks, not sand right? I was very happy w/ my TrXus MT's when I had my Tundra rock crawling. They never let me down, and weren't very loud or uncomfortable on the highway/roads. Also, they're siped from the factory, which not many MT's are, that I'm aware of. They were a great all around tire. I'll probably stick w/ the STS's if they work out well for me, but you never know.
