Ticking Noise after Timing Belt install

Got a question for my fellow wrench turners. Instead of doing the timing belt on my wife's 2005 Sequoia I had a mechanic change it out, because of lack of time. I had him change the belt, idler pulleys, tensioner, water pump, and spark plugs. I got it back now it has a noticeable tick coming from the drivers side of the engine. He took it back today and said it seems to be coming from the behind the VVT inside of the valve cover. He verified that all the timing marks lined up when he pulled the access covers of the timing belt. My questions is what could it be since the engine has never made any kind of sound prior to the replacement? Thanks for any input on the issue.

im not to familiar with the 1uz, but if he claims its coming form under the valve covers on the driverside, and its a ticking noise. i would check the valve lash on that side. that would be my first guess.
