No Zip & Some Miss
Hello All.....I have a 93 T100 SR5 4X4 with 185,000 miles on it and have had no serious problems until recent. About 6 months ago when I started it (mostly when cold) it would idle rough and then go away after a few seconds. Thinking it may be clogged injectors I ran some Techron Chevron fuel cleaner through it and it continued to idle rough on start up for about 2 months there after. The warmer it was the less time it would take for the rough idle to go away. No check engine light has ever came on and the problem eventually went away. Well recently it started back up and worsened so much that it was running very rough all the time. So I replaced the plugs, cap, rotor, and plug wires and it seemed to help a lot, but now my fuel mileage is poor and it is very inconsistent on how it runs depending on the temperature. Starts right up every time and sometimes it runs smooth and other times it acts like its running on 5 cylinders and will back fire at the intake, but only if the RPM's are below 2,500. I pulled the plugs (NGK) again and they all look good this time compared to the plugs I replaced which were in dyer need of replacement. I don't know what else to check other than taking it to a mechanic and have it put on a diagnostic machine. Any ideas or input is very much appreciated. Thanks! Clay

First off I would clean out the throttle body. Next I would replace the temp sensor if it only acts up when cold. It sounds to me like an injection problem. If nothing else take it to a mechanic to check it out. Sorry I can't help out more.

Thanks Andrew, I already cleaned the throttle body and it made no difference. Injectors are quite possible. Anyone know where the temp sensor is located on a 3.0? Looks like I may have to take it to a good tech to determine the problem. Clay

I'm about 150 miles south in Joplin. Gotta good friend in KC and visit there frequently. Been thinking about having the motor in my T100 rebuilt sometime soon since the rest of the truck is in good shape. Does this seem justifyable for a 12 year old Toyota? Love the sig pic btw!

I have never changed it and don't know if the previous owner/owners had. So call me stupid if you want. I enjoy wrenching and restoring vehicles as a hobby.. Mainly older Honda muscle bikes, but feel a little intimidated with EFI and all the sensor/emmision crap they put on todays vehicles. Anyway, I only have the Hanes repair manual and it really doesn't specify where the fuel filter is and I couldn't find it around the engine either. I would assume it's in the tank??????
Thanks,
