Question Interested in a Sequoia...any problems I should be aware of?

We've been shopping for an SUV the past few days and I was originally interested in the Land Cruiser (00-01) or a similar year 4Runner. The 4Runner is a little too small for our liking, but we've seen a few Sequoias in person that have us somewhat interested.

What is the difference with the SR5 and the Limited? The SR5 we've seen had leather, moonroof, etc...so what do you gain with the Limited?

Is the 4.7 engine the same between the LC and the Sequoia?

Any known problems with the Sequoia model?

my dad has a 2004 Sequoia sr5 w/leather package(optional). The difference b/w the limited and SR5 is leather seats/heated seats and i think it has heated mirrors too. not much difference. Oh yea, the SR5 is all two tone. hope this helps. BTW i love the 100 series LC

he has about 22k on the sequoia and its going great! I changed to mobil 1 as soon as we got it.

Hmm, well I know for at least US models that the captains chairs are just a "luxury option" even for the Limited model. I was checking out an 05 Brochure recently that explained that.

Are they any good for offroad riding? Has anyone lifted them or done similar mods....or are they more of a street only SUV?

IMO you can get a LOT MORE vehicle in a Land Cruiser that is older for what you'll pay for a newer Sequoia.

landcruiser is a gas hog .. the sequoia is a bit better

sequoia is great for hauling a group of people . it's wider then the land crusier, more room to spread out

sequoia cost a lot less then a landcruiser (03-04 for the price of 00-01 landcruiser)

Sequioia has better acelleration and pick up then a landcruiser.

They're both too nice to take off road .. but for light-moderate trails neither of them will have any problems.

See thats my concern. I can pick up an 00-01 Land Cruiser for about what I'd pay for an 02-03 Sequoia. Luxury wise, they seem pretty even. Room wise, I think the Sequoia is a little bigger.

The LC seems a little more capable. I'll probably never really go romping through th desert with one.....I'd just hate to buy one and then wish I got the other.

drive both .. they're very different vehicles .. the landcruiser feels more solidly built. But it's heavier, and more expensive to maintain/upgrade. The sequoia is quality built, but it feels lighter, roomier, faster.

The Sequoia is faster? Isn't it heavier and the same engine?

nope different engines .. I have a tundra (same engine as sequoia) as well and it takes off like a rocket. The landcruiser not so much.

edit: someone check me, I don't know if they changed the engine on the landcruiser. The one I drove was a 01 and it was slow

Basically the same engine, but different HP. LC has between 230 HP and 275 HP ('05) where the Seq has between 240HP and 282HP ('05). Don't remember the torque #'s. I read that the HP diff. had something to do with the exhaust system, but don't know how true that is.

The LC does weigh more than the Seq. even though it is smaller.
