2000 Tundra TRD 4x4 button question

It is freakishly cold for here,,, SW MO,
I have been using the 4wd to get in and out of our place, when I turn off the 4 wd the light flashes on and off. I stop, back up, drive forward in a straight line, but it still flashes..... Nothing seems to make it stop. I even put it in 4wd low, drove ahead stopped and tried to turn it all back off, nothing,, 4 wd high still flashes. It is running in 2 wd but the light flashes.
Please tell me something nice, I just put a Sienna tranny in the wifes van $$$$ I can't afford another rebuild!
Thanks in advance, Columbia

Love to be able to help, but I honestly don't know. Is it going in and out of 4WD? If it is and the light just flashes I'd be tempted to run with it till it warms up a bit; but I'd make darn sure it really is in 2WD when it needs to be. If it's not really going in and out of 4WD (and that's what the flashing is trying to indicate) it needs to be fixed....quite likely the electric solenoid that does the switching has given up. No idea how to replace that, or how much it costs. Sorry I couldn't be helpful.

The light flashes when it "can't" shift into 4wd for whatever reason, usually because you need to go forward or something, but in this case it sounds like something is wrong with the 4wd itself. If I can find my service manuals I'll check it out for you.

I will 'Thank you in advance here'. It worked great as needed, now it just blinks. I have done the back and forth thing many times. Just layed down $2300 on a tranny for the Sienna, so I pray this is simple.

it turned out to be a vacuum hose line that had a small but growing split. That is why it gradually got worse over time. That was my thought but I was lazy, plus I a had real cement driveway to look at it. It was repaired in less than 3 mins.

Thanks so much, I love this place!

Yeah nothing happens here for Tundras, I don't even bother anymore. Try tundrasolutions in the future.
