so it finally "cooled" down to 33* C (90*F) outside ... and was able to get some work done ..
as mentioned .. I decided to change the dash again .. so I welded up the clock , hazard, and dimmer hole .. and cut the NEW gauge holes .

the frame of the dash had also been butchered by the previous owner ..

so I cleaned it up , and started to make some new supports . I have more to do , to get the sterio supported .. but I wanted to make sure everything was going to be ok before I did all the work .

also , now had to RE-mount the heater controls

so , now I'm happy ....

and "installed"

For those of you who haven't seen this is person, it is truely well done (though I had no idea how much work went into it until I read this). I really like your "it was rusted.... so I made my own" attitude, something I definately share.
I can vouch for all the work with POR 15, it is the only rust paint I would consider using and it goes well with any surface, the rougher the better.
Did you use stainless for the hard brake lines? I used it for my lines, and it was much easier to work with than I had expected. I'll post up my build once I actually get to installing the fiberglass bed sides, which is taking alot longer than expected.... because once you find one spot of rust, soon the whole cab and engine are off.

thanks , and sorry .. no updates to speak of !!
I have been collecting a few parts .. but my summer has been to HOT , and busy to even consider working on my own junk .
soon the kids go back to school .. and relatives will go back home and I can then again get some "stuff" done to my own truck
no I didnt .. wanted to , but lordco said they couldnt supply it ? .. so I ended up using the "bulk" steel lines . I "zinc'd" them .. and will finish them when I pull the body off for the final welding and paint

I've been following your thread since you started but haven't posted up yet. First, this is one of my favorite build ups on the forum due in part to your immense attention to detail. I commend you for that. I did want to comment on your idea of wood grain. You had said you were thinking about a tiger grain. Having worked in a woodworking shop, I think you should go with a tiger maple if you could get it. That would look great with a maybe a cherry stain for the color. Hope I'm not too late on the post.
