The LX 4Hundred and Fifty build

Edit: Can the mods move this to the buikd up section??? I’m an idiot

A few months ago I sold my first gen 4runner to build something a little bit different, I’m still In the regret stages of the sale but I found a 97 LX450 to help mask the pain. 210k Miles, triple locked and bone stock minus some janky old electronics.

Plans: the plan was supposed to be OME lift, 255s, build rear tire carrier, rebuild front axle and drive 2600 km to Moab. But we ended up cancelled the trip.

Now the fun stuff

First things first, I started tearing off the stupid rear bumper

Then I got the OME lift all ready to go and installed, I got 2850J for the front and heavy springs in the rear

And started a rear bumper

moved to the build up section.
That was a pretty sweet 4runner you had.
Looks like you are off to an awesome start on the new build.

Thanks for the move! Yeah it’s going good so far. Gotta do a front axle rebuild I’ve got all the parts I’ve just been slacking.
I really loved my 4runner, it was my dream truck once I finished it, it was really tough to sell, but it wasn’t my favourite truck to drive to and from trails so I trailered it a lot. so it’s nice to have something I can drive and still be capable on the trail.

Finding a space at Costco.

Moving along through the build! Finished the front axle rebuild which was a bit of a pain. I’ve rebuilt enough mini truck axles to know what I’m doing, but the landcruiser gave me hell all the way through. Happily got that out of the way, I just bolted up these 35s today.
My next thing to do is figure out the Center diff lock light. It’s not coming on the dash anymore, so the F/R lockers won’t engage.

So many parts to one axle.

Cleaned up bird housing and new seals

Yes sir, I believe it’s only Land Cruiser’s that are fitted with both. A small fraction of 80 series cruisers/LX450s had them. That’s what I was looking for when I tried to find one.

I’ve never built my own front bumper so I got a plasma cutter and made a project out of it for lockdown. I’m happy with how it turned out!
