havent posted anything new here for a while... basically because i havent done much, if anything lately... just working, working, working...

just a couple things...

1. Peeled off most of the stickers on my fender... they were so sun faded and peeling that it started looking bad... more updates on that SOON... (i swear scoob, i didnt know you were doing the same thing!)

2. Im happy to announce that the motor i built (sans balance shafts) has lasted 23K miles now and still kicking... need to pull the pan and reseal it since its weeping a little... also need to replace some of the rubber couplers for the intake as they have cracked and its messing with my idle RPMs...

3. One of the major reasons i havent posted up here in a while is because i found out im going to be a dad... Yea... You heard that right... God help this kid... anyways, its due mid to late august, so ive started saving up for another vehicle that i can fit 2 adults, a baby, and a 50lb dog in... got a lead on a clean '86 runer, but we will see how that turns out...
btw, this pic was taken back before christmas... she is now right about 14 weeks...

Best of luck to you man.

Do you plan on keeping the Tacoma once the little one arrives?

WOW, MAN! Talk about 'NEWS'! lol..... Congratufreakinlations!

Hope you find a good rig that will keep ya on the road w/out drama for a good long while

PS> Just from one dad to another.... I had my 86 and 85 4Runners during the time My girls were young..... Gotta tell ya, PITA getting the seat in and out of the rear(well, PITA compared to a 4door, obviously! hahaha)..... I'm sure you'd rather have a 1st Gen(???)..... But I just thought I'd share that, as, well, sure, it has room for 5(plus dog in the back)....but DANG if I didn't use my Cressida WAY more often when carting around the Lil Ones!! hahaha.

good job, troy! you're not alone...i'm not there yet but my wife and I had "the talk" last week...

keep the tacoma - convert to a "walk through cab" and put a seat in the back and a shell on top to basically make it a Trekker/4runner. No new vehicle needed, just a weekend with a sawzall and a couple new parts, hahaha...seriously though.... lol

fixed it for ya!

If you want 4 doors I've got a buddy who might be selling his 2nd gen 4runner (94 or 95) sometime soon, most likely for cheap. All stock with 5spd, 3slow and (I'm pretty sure) less than 150k. Only thing I can think of it needs is passenger side CV boots (+ manual hub swap), and a saggy-butt lift.

Thanks Chef! but, with my budget doesnt allow for much of anything except 80's emerican cars... and right now i have either a std cab tacoma or a 280zx 2+2...

i miss my 2nd gen, but i cant afford the crap that comes along with them... especially the v6... now, granted i never had a problem with mine, but its was just a little excessive when i sold it i was getting 14-17 mpgs... and trying to find one with a 22re is a whole "needle in the haystack" process... plus everyone wants too much for them... the cheapest ive found (running) is $2300...

Nice/clean looking 1st Gen, Troy!

Don't get me wrong, ... I 'managed' with the lil ones... but seriously?>>> when they're REALLY lil, it's 'in and out of the rig' LOTS, lol. But again, it's very doable and not a BIG deal... ESPECIALLY if you have 2 car seats and just leave one in the 4runner

The rich thing could just be that he has no clue how to fish through these 22re's, ya know? You'll have PLENTY of help with that!

PS> Saw a pretty clean 91 4Runner with 22RE for 1600$.... they're a dime a dozen down here(not the 22re versions... just 4door ones).

Good deal on that 1st gen????

The only pain with the 1st gen is two doors. having to grab that car seat and squeeze it through the front seats is going to be a royal pain in the ass. It'll get old quick.

Yeah, and the other thing is that MOST Car Seats all come out and click onto strollers frames/shopping carts and MANY times you don't want to wake them by taking them out of it and swappin em into another seat/stroller. It did get annoying even babysitting my niece for a few weeks. lol. But you gotta do what you gotta do/depending on what you can afford(which isn't much 'EXTRA' when you're having a lil one coming! haha)

PS> I got that Cressida for 800$ and it ran from 140K to 290K before I had to do the timing belt/HG.... Still running at 398K(ex has it). It was an 84, GREAT CAR! Great motor!

Congrats on the little one Troy! My baby boy is due next Wednesday. If you need anything along the way, don't hesitate to ask. I got the wife a minivan, which we'll use most of the time, but the 4Runner isn't going anywhere. 1st gens definitely aren't the most practical for car seats, especially rear facing ones, but babies grow fast and before you know they're climbing in and out of booster seats on their own. Best wishes to you and MudBunni.
