Are you building a dual case with the taco adapter to the righty case? Obviously I see the pass drop case you posted. I just picked up a yota axle today and trying to figure out what direction I should go for the t-case, I rather not flip it.

Eventually I'll go dual cases.
When I first do the SAS I'll be running a single 4.7 with that 85 transfer case.
Shouldn't be too hard.

I started on a multi mount tire carrier today.
It will be able to stand vertical as well lay flat.

I want to get the spare out from under the toolbox, as well as drop the tool box down so it sits directly on the frame rails instead of having the 2" spacer underneath.
Eventually, I'm going to put a ford F150 gas tank under the bed between the back of the cab and the axle. I might have to go up into the bed to it to clear the driveshaft, which is another reason why I need the tire out from under there.

that's ingenious! What'd you do to be sure the 'down' position can handle the 100# of tire and rim? (trying to see the stops for down position, ...just guess I'm too newb in the metal fab dept! lol)

Oh. I'm not done yet.
There will be 2 sets of tabs, almost like shock mounts, one on the left and one on the right, on the rear of the carrier as well as on the floor of the bed. I will have 2 pieces of 2 separate lengths of tube. One set of tubes will hold the carrier up vertically and the shorter set of tubes will hold it when the carrier is in the down position.

Exactly what I was wondering! lol... Thanks. I figured you'd mount some type of rubber cushioned spacer for when it's down, to avoid any unecessary "BUBANGBUBANGULA" and wear as well. Anyway, I'll just watch, and look forward to the finished product.

BTW, I'm sure I could look...but could you just tell me, ....lol, ..... what kinda of bumper is that in the rear? That thing looks STOUT!

Got it to stand on its own today. It stands and holds itself up vertically now.
I still need to work on the mounts to hold it in the down position but that can wait.

One of the two rear mounts.

Done.

And with the new Trasharoo.

Also, I have to give a HUGE shout out to Dave at Trasharoo for his excellent customer service.
I had an incident with the Trasharoo bag that I got back in February. The strap that holds the upper clip to the lid of the bag broke off. I sent an email to Dave and included the picture below and he said "Call me tomorrow and we'll get you a new one."
I gave him a call and no questions asked he took my address and sent me a replacement bag that I received less than 48 hours from the time mine broke.

Scuba,
Interesting concept.
Why did you engineer the tilt into the top of the carrier? visibility? Am i missing something. I am guessing that you don't need a formal tailgate for access to the bed? if not, you could tie the tailgate section into the quarter protection on the bumper rather then taking up more space in the bed with that stabilizer....just sayin.

Looks good

I wanted it to fold flat into the bed. I couldn't hinge it on the bottom because there's a 3-4" difference between the top of the bumper and the bottom of the bed.

Nice terrain amazing what a yota can do, course most of wheelin is driver capability.
Anyhow, are you still going to do a tire carrier of a different flavor? I think if I had a truck I'd make one, I like the ones that look like tailgates but hinge out like a typical carrier. I am not crazy about the fact that I have to unlatch my carrier and then put the gate down.

I think eventually I MIGHT make a swing out carrier. I'm not sure though. I would have gone with something that attaches where the tailgate does, but I just don't think that section of the bed is strong enough to handle a 75#+ tire especially with the fact the bed is bobbed.

probably right about the bedsides not being strong enough. why did you scrap the other carrier? I love mine, but hate the rear-view obstruction. With the top off it isn't too bad. On the truck, i dig the carriers that have that pre-runner look... tire at an angle, half in the bed. Still gives rear visibility and points to attach gear.
