The intake manifold was more dirty than the cylinders. After 204k miles the motor still had factory honing marks. Good motor to rebuild.

now i am waiting for parts... odered 6000 in parts was on the phone with LCE this morning for an hour. Got the: master rebuild, LCE pro fuel injection kit #3, new rods, 550cc injectors, adjustable exhaust cam gear, pro camshaft set, dual comp clutch kit, pro head stud set, pro main stud set, street header kit, pro flow exhaust system!

By next thursday Ill have all the parts than Ill order the S/C with 8lb pulley.

Dude, 6 grand?
You could rebuild the bottom end with forged parts and throw a turbo kit on there for 6k if you buy from paradise racing. Lots of people on customtacos use them.
Don't go S/C, they don't make any power. Go turbo!!!!!

LCE parts are good (expensive)... but go turbo, not S/C!!!

Yea I would go turbo, but not this time, if I still have the truck in 100-150k miles when the s/c goes out or blown motor I will Turbo it next time. I know with the turbo I can get 20lbs of boost compared to 8 max with s/c but its more even pull and reliable.

1, why is your truck leaning...
2, your truck looks incredible similar to mine (see build thread)
3, why spend 6 grand?! geez, you just trumped the price of the truck by almost 2 by doing that, and its not even running?

nonethelss, subscribed due to my inate curiosity...

Nice start, think you might have got jipped on the parts, I spent $2k on parts for my 500++hp capable MR2 engine.

Also think that a turbo would be the smarter move, might as well just do a V6/V8 swap for that kind of money if you are just going to Supercharge it.

Now turbo would be worth it since you could make some real power with that.

Turbo would get a lot more power true but I dont want any surging. Maybe next time after I blow this motor or the s/c breaks.

More power to you, just wondering if you have ever driven a turbo car vs a supercharged one?

Having driven a few of each i would personally go turbo but it is your truck go for whatever you want.

Also, what do you mean by surge? Surge only happens if you have an improperly matched turbo size or don't run a BOV.

Even that is very little with a properly sized turbo.

With a ~gt3071 sized turbo (or even better an EFR turbo) he would spool plenty fast enough that it would be unnoticeable. Plus he would be good for well over 400rwhp, 500+ if he went with the EFR.

I have a 2.0l engine with a larger turbo then a GT3071, the lag is hardly noticeable, about .5-1 second tops from the time i go WOT to full boost. With a 2.7l motor the lag would be even less. Then use an EFR turbo and you would literally not be able to tell it has lag.

But like i said, his money and his truck, do what he wants.

I am not posting to bash you, but Texas asked a legit question, have you ever driven a turbo or charged car/truck?

I saw the thread over on TTORA, and it's tuff love over there for sure. I just think really they dont want to see you go down the wrong road. And really TTORA is more for off roading/fab stuff, and that does not seem to be the direction of your build. So what I am getting at is take the info you get from boards and learn from it, instead of getting mad at the dudes who flame you for not putting in a 4.7 or turbo the 3z. I understand not everyone has access to fabrication equipment.
