Branding iron is the place. We heard some bad reviews about Eddie mastiffs so we just avoided it. We had planned to go to Moab brewery one night but got stuck on the trail until well after dark and ended up eating cold sandwiches and prepackaged chocolate chip cookies lol.
Mmmm, sammiches and cookies and STARS! So long as you're prepared enough that can be the finest meal of all.

Denso Starters are usually rock solid. I use the following video for mine that you was asking about. Terminals and plunger is all I have ever had to deal with.

Okay so wow its been a long time since Ive updated things here, I know its just an excuse but I have been really busy with other toyota related projects.
In the mean time Ive been working on the runner quite a bit, moved forward with some long awaited projects, and even got out and wheeled just a bit.
Okay so just before the Moab trip I purchased a WHYNTER brand fridge/freezer off from amazon, I got the 45qt model, It showed up after I had delivered the runner for transport so I didnt have time to mount it in any kind of a good way, just strapped it the back seat and let it ride. I have to say I have spent a lot of time over the past few years talking myself out of a fridge, I have several friends with ARBs and ENGALLs but could just never justify the purchase myself, when the trip to Moab came up I thought maybe it would save me a few bucks in the long run. I cant now justify having went so long without a fridge. not having to buy ice, food not floating in nasty cooler water, being able to freeze things. it just cant be beat in my opinion. I used it 2 weeks straight in Utah, on a recent trip to Nebraska and on my last wheeling trip. Its going to pay for its self for sure.

So with the fridge needing it own spot I decided to move forward with another project that has been on my mind for a long time, a storage box with slide outs. I have toyed with different ways of building this over time my one goal being to retain the back seats or at least make it easy to swap back and fourth. Well in the end neither happened, after discussing it with my wife I decided that this is no longer a passenger vehicle, it is my dedicated exploration/offroad vehicle and hasnt had anyone in the backseat for a couple years, so out they came.

My goal was to build it in a manner that gave me better storage as well as a platform to sleep on, I have to say it looked like a lot of room when I started lol. Im very happy with how it turned out but sleeping on the platform well to say its tight with my frame is a bit of an understatement.
but my tool box is finally secured and i have a good amount of room under the platform to store larger items "spare axle etc", and a nice slide out drawer for easy access to somethings. Im sure ther will be times I miss the back seats but for the most part I think this was the rite direction to go for me.

This past weekend was STLCAs annual New Years ride, you may remember the videos of the deep water crossings etc from last years ride. Well this year was much less eventful but fun none the less, we had a great turn out, around 15 trucks, 30ish people including a slew of kiddos and a pack of dogs that surprisingly all seemed to get along. The weather was great a little cold but hey thats part of it, plenty of water left over from the weeks worth of rain made the trails just challenging enough for everyone but me, me I spent a good deal of time winching I think its time to start doing some tire shopping.

A few other random things that have gotten done, I built a battery box since when I got back from Utah I discovered the battery hold down had gave up at some point and the battery was laying on top of the alternator, sorry no pics. I also rebuilt the starter after it started acting up while I was in Utah, pretty straight forward job and its working well now. I also finally got around to changing the coolant temp sensor that has been giving me a CEL and causing hard start issues for nearly a year, again no pics sorry.
The guys I ride with most of the time have moved completely away from C.B. radios and have started using 2 meter HAM radios for several reasons, I picked up a cheap hand held a couple years ago and it has served me well but my wife got me a nice entry level base mount radio for christmas.

and a few more of the fridge and the storage box, well just because.

Okay one more thing, not so much build related but I have eluded to another toyota project that I have been working on.
I decided as a Podcast consumer that there was a lack of a toyota truck podcast so I decided to start one myself, this project has taken a ton of my time to get going but the first episode is finally up and available.
you can find it here http://toyotatrucksandtrails.com/ or on Itunes. there is also a Facebook page if you want to give it a like and follow the show there at facebook/TTaTpodcast.
I have always had a ton of support from folks here on YT and I hope you guys will support me in this new project as well.

Wow, have you been busy. Getting a fridge sure is tempting, or at least one of those mega-good coolers.
Looks like a lot mellower stream crossings compared to your last stream stravaganza trip, and yes, still looks like fun.
I'll check out your podcast and Facebook page.

Oh, excitement is not needed, really appreciate the pics. One of these days I'll actually get out there (and not blow up the dif!), the pics inspire me.
Listened to the podcast. I liked it. You two had good and sometimes amusing banter. It kept my attention, which is NOT easy to do.
Liked your page too, looking forward to see where you take it all.

You get out and enjoy nature in ways I only wish I could hab. Thanks for the support of the podcast, I just hope people like it and offer some feedback on what they want to hear about, it's something completely out of my wheel house but I am enjoying doing it.

You have been getting a lot done. The fridge does come in handy when camping, ice is a big expense and not having everything soaked in water is a nice thing as well and actually saves space.
Great job on your 1st pod cast. I enjoyed listening to it. It isn't easy talking with out a lot of Uhm, Ahs, and Ohs. You guys did great. I liked how you guys were talking about washing cars in the winter up north to keep the rust at bay. I lived in Chicago for a couple of years and that really helps to keep the rust down. I was at the car wash weekly and I froze my rear off but it paid off. Great job guys!!!

Haven't done much of anything with the runner, but I have been working on a toyota. I'm going to just post stuff here rather than start any kind of a build thread.
So a little over a year ago I finally got my wife into a toyota for her daily driver.
A 2001 2wd tundra, she absolutely loved the truck and told me hands off.

We all was good until thanksgiving day 2015, when the poor tundra came to a crashing halt.
We were both very saddened by this, but more so my wife her beloved tundra was badly beaten up. After some long discussion and waiting for the insurance company to do their thing, we decided to keep the truck and fix it.

So with the wife's blessing "she told to do what ever I wanted, just fix it" the work has begun.
Beyond fixing the body and mechanical damage, the old truck is getting some gear head treatment, I don't have any pics of the work at the moment but I will update with a few things shortly.
Thanks for checking in.
