Thanks man, I really appreciate it!

Just a little update, everything is together and ready. The truck goes into the shop the 19th to start the swap. The axle is built/geared/locked, I have the coilovers and everything for the steering swap.

Built 79 axle, 4.56 gears, Spartan locker, TG Six Shooter knuckles, new bearings and seals, and 79 FJ40 vented rotors.

I wish i knew a ton of stuff about mechanics and how to fix my truck up myself. i only know basic maintainence. I am trying to get my 4runner lifted and fix gear ratio to be able to run my 33" tires and i also would love a SAS. but i dont know jack about how to do this stuff myself. I'd hate to pay someone to do the work for me cuz that takes all the fun out of doing it yourself and plus i wont learn a thing for the next big project. Only thing ive done on my own was the interior of my truck and that came really easy to me.

How did you learn how to do all this stuff?

Just lots and lots of reading.

What engine does your runner have? The 4.56's in my 3.4 are awesome and I'm a believer now that gears are worth their weight in gold!

I have the 3.0 EFI V6 motor. And its a 1989 4runner. I'm not sure what my gear ratio is but I'm sure its whatever the stock ones would be.

At the moment I'm having a mechanic install about $1100 worth of parts into my motor. I figured if he's gonna redo my heads and gaskets I might as well make sure I get everything out of the way now. So I'm pretty much having my engine rebuilt. He is only charging me $650. But he's supposed to be a really good mechanic. So I hope he knows his stuff.

Honestly wish I could have done this stuff myself. But when it comes to timing and something delicate like heads I'd rather let a professional do the work lol

My buddy has a 94 (3.0 V6) 4runner that he just SASed. He's running 33in MTZ's with 5.29 gears and he loves the setup. It's got some spunk, plus doesn't really well off road.

I got the T100 oil pan swapped in this evening. Big thanks to my buddy Jay at 601 Performance for let me use the lift after hours! It wasn't too bad, just slow and steady...

And some of the brackets that are going to be used. Lower shock/link mount, I think they are Balistic? Damien mix matched between Balistic and Ruff Stuff.

I am planning on getting my SAS done soon too. Once i get my 4runner back from the mechanic i will begin all the other upgrades. gotta pass my smog test first.

I have my Front axle already with 4" leaf springs. All i need now is to buy the shocks for that 4" lift, some Detroit lockers for the front and rear, and some 4.88 Yukon gears.
Check out my build tell me what you think bro.

I'm suscribed to this thread. ur doing an awesome job Keep it up. i wanna see those SAS shots when ur done.

It depends on a couple of things... I would guess 12 or 14 inch travel for that setup. Just take your time and do it right the first go around.

Just thought I would post an update of the finished product. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I handles great on the road and is very stable on the trail. I'm still getting used to how much flex it has.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm sure everything will come together fine, just take your time and do it right the first time.

Ahhhh Drool* Hey i got a question.
I know you recomended getting a 12-14" travel setup for my 4runner for the 4" lift leaf springs that i have for my future SAS.

I have 2 well experienced off road buddies that recommended to me to buy some Walker Evan shocks. But they cost up to $230-260 for each shock that is a 12" travel. and i need 4. Thats a a hell of alot of cash for me to spend. So im wondering what else (that is a great brand/durable) can i buy that would be good for my truck. something affordable but something that definitely wont mess up or have to replace within a short period of time.

Do you have any suggestions and links to what you think i should get?

I've had great experiences with Bilstein. I had originally wanted to use them on my swap, but they didn't make a coilover that I liked without a remote reservoir, so I went with Fox. I really like the foxes and they weren't too bad on price. Either one would be a great setup.

Sick TACO! lol... What a beast.... So cleanly done and almost looks like a stock Aussie SFA rig... Just mean that it's not lifted like 14", 40" tires, etc. VERY nice!
