Trust me, I want them on the 4Runner more than you do!

The problem is 35's don't just bolt onto a 3rd Gen 4Runner. I test fit a tire today on the front, and even at ride height it hits everywhere. I wasn't even able to test lock to lock on the steering because it rubs so bad. I have a whole lot of trimming to do, and it really looks like I will be tubbing the firewall. I will be digging into that this weekend!

They look awesome on the 4Runner! My only concern is them riding smooth on the highway. Two of the wheels are perfect; nice and straight, and the tire is almost perfectly round on the balancer. But on two of the wheels the beadlock ring holes are drilled close to a 1/4" off of center, that makes the ring wobble around and gives the tire a pretty good kick. I know that they are "Non-DOT, Off road only" wheels, but that's just crappy workmanship in my opinion and I sure wouldn't trust them on my "Off-road only" Trophy Truck at 120 mph.

I plan on calling Trail Ready tomorrow to see what they say, I really hope I don't get the "Off-road Only" excuse!

I would say sell them if tjey give you that excuse and do the steel beads yourself. I know your attention to detail.

you would think it would be considered a manufacturer's defect, and therefore, covered under TR's lifetime warranty. if this company truly has pride in their work they wouldn't want their wheels being advertised on your rig wobbling about. tell them youve had Chinese beadlocks with better quality

i bet you bought those wheels knowing your going to have to , we've all seen your past builds!

That's what I was thinking. I don't want to talk crap or bad mouth them, but when I pay top dollar for something I expect a top notch product. I will call them and see what they have to say about the situation. If I have time I will throw them on the balancer and take a couple quick videos.

I don't plan on installing a solid axle, but your right. I mainly bought these wheels for snow wheeling, but if I do SAS down the road I wanted a wheel that I could run a street friendly 37" tire. I really just wanted a wheel that could grow with the 4Runner.

It's going to be pushing it to get the 4Runner ready for this trip. In all reality, Saturday will most likey be the first time I ever wheel it (if it's ready) and it won't have sliders, skidplates or bumpers yet. I was thinking something easy like Hancock Pass, Tin Cup or MAYBE Grizzly Lake (if I've taken it for a shake down run before hand).
She has only gone twice, so I might go on those trails with you. I am not sure I will have my truck though because I have a new project in the works and it might get partially parted out. Either way I have a 4runner on 31's that will make those trails more fun than 37's

I agree with DIRTCO, take her on something scenic (maybe Wheeler, Iron Chest, or Grizzly Lake.
She had gotten maybe four hours of sleep the night before and was not a happy camper that day. She enjoyed it until the sitting/waiting for a couple hours, but it is something that happens in four wheeling sometimes.

I plan on letting her drive more and trying to get her more into it than she is now. IF it comes down to her hating it and complaining 95% of the time then she probably wont come lol

On another note, pull the fenders (Volcom Style  ) and the rear some, then the tires will fit great

That came off pretty harsh, I was just really frustrated after mounting and dismounting one of the wheels three times to find that it wobbles all over the place no matter what I did. Then I found another wheel doing the same thing.

I called Trail Ready today and explained my situation. I guess they had this issue on several wheels, or possibly a whole batch (they were in the process of moving to a new building when I ordered the wheels, so maybe the machine got set up wrong, or something?). They thought QC caught all the wheels before they shipped but I guess mine slipped through.

TR is sending two new wheels to replace the defective ones, they were going to try to get them made and shipped out today. I hope to see them next week. So far they have handled the situation very well.

This is good news. Customer service like that is kinda rare of these days.

Thanks, I used Maglight clips and attached them to the lower seat bracket. You can get them at most hardware stores. They really work good, and I don't even notice the flashlight in that spot (I actually forgot that it was there for a while).

good to hear you got that situation with TR all figured out, its nice when a company admits their faults and not only has an excuse, but provides a fix to the problem!

New project? Any day out on the trail is a good day, it doesn't matter how hard it is or how built your rig is.

I agree with you guys 100%! When I called them I figured they would make a bunch of excuses, blame me on the install, need pictures/video, etc. But, they took full resposibilty for the issue and are working to make it right. We all make mistakes and you can't expect to build a rig without running into issues.
