Wow, great site
A new member just signed up, so I decided to check out his site.
http://www.creative.gb.com/bundubasher/
Nice layout of his website, and take a look at what he plans on doing with his '94 4Runner.
I'll be pouring over his site for quite awhile when I get the chance.

I am not worthy of your praise...but I'll except it anyway!
Obviously this is not a "post and forget" forum! And I am pleased and honoured to be in such distinguished company.
Yes I have plans for my 4Runner - but not alot of dough, so things are taking quite a bit longer than I originaly expected.
Just upgraded my driver light bulbs from OE halogen to Hella Xenon and have just invested in some Hella 550 Fog Lamps. Next is the roof rack (PRO-RACK), a light bar and some Hella spots.
After those cosmetic changes I need to clean up some split rims I bought and fit some BFG MTs - was thinking about 31.265.R16 and some Scorpion Racing wheel spacers. These are long bucks here in the UK £80 plus each - and I want 6!
So if any of you guys want to drop me a line please do so - maybe you can let me into the reason as to why there is no cup holder on a UK spec 4Runner!
Warmest regards

Enzo, we welcome you with open arms here at Yotatech. You will fit in right off the bat, because we all lack the assets to do to our rigs what we would like. You are in good company as well. Everyone here is very nice and will be friends with everyone else. Enjoy your stay and most importantly, have fun! :fireman:

Great welcome!
Many thanks to everyone for looking (my weblog went ballistic yesterday!) and commenting, all are greatfully recieved. May I just add that even though I work on a computer I'm basically in and out of my (home) office and may not be able to react at lightspeed to any comments. So if I don't react immediately please do not assume I'm being rude - it's just that my daughter might be trying to climb up the side of my (black) 4Runner wearing golf shoes - and that does require my immediate attention!
Otherwise, looking forward to being a part of this community - bring it on!

Too much time
Yes...too much time but not enough money!
Well the 3L TD engine (1KZ-T) is supposed to be good (if you read C. Scott's "Sahara Overland") and it works well for me now that I've replaced the cylinder head (old one cracked) and radiator (blocked rad results in overheating resulting in a cracked head).
Low down torque isn't too bad even by modern standards:
'94 4Runner 3.0 TD:
123 bhp@ 3600 rpm
218lb.ft @ 2000 rpm
21 / 32 mpg
94 mph
0-60 mph: 16.4 s
'02 Discovery TD5:
136 bhp @ 4200 rpm
250lb.ft @ 1950 rpm
25 / 34 mpg
98 mph
0-60 mph: 15.3 s
I think fuel economy could be better if I wasn't doing so much motorway driving but otherwise I am perfectly happy with my rig - of course the acceleration isn't Mercedes like - but I've had a few run ins with ˟˟˟˟˟ Mercedes owners and I know which vehicle I'd prefer to be in if we had to play chicken!
Performance might be improved by an intercooler but I'm not too willing to mess about too much with the OE engine if I'm planning to drive the rig through Africa.
Any other questions - just shout!
