Ok, here is what I have. 1989 4Runner, rear window problems as seems to be the norm. My factory rear window switch is toast(sometimes it works, sometimes it don't). The factory relay behind the interior trim next to the drivers seat has already been bypassed by a previous owner. Under the center console (where the factory switches are) there are 4 relays and a wiring mess from hell. I have a new rocker switch on/off/on (momentary) type. It has 6 pins on the back. What I would like to do is make my rear window operate without the key turned on. So not being an electrician I am looking for a wiring diagram (easy to follow) if someone has one or can draw me one. My rear wiper is toast anyway so I would like to take it out of the mix as well as the window lock. Before you say search, I already have and found not much that would help. The best I can tell the factory wiring from the factory relay to the motor has already been bypassed and is no longer in use for the rear window. I can try to take pics in the morning and post them if that would help. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for your assistance.

Thanks for the info. It still didn't have quite what I am looking for. Surely someone has totally rewired the rear window on their Runner.

 

It shouldn't be that tough - find the "switched power" wire and replace it with a "constant power"...not quite sure why you would want to do this though...

You should definitely have a relay in there - the window motor draws quite a bit of power - that's probably what fried the switch.

If you use the documentation that roger has and you want to bypass the relay all you need to do is find a wire with 12V and a ground and you can wire the motor directly to the switch. This is the setup I have temporarily wired in place now and it works fine. If you need some help feel free to PM me and I'll help ya out!

thanks for everyones help, I ended up just bypassing all the relays and straight wiring it through the switch for now. I found the info I was looking for on 4crawler.com. Awesome website. Thanks again to all who responded. I love this place. Now I just need tires, body lift, ball joint spacers, new exhaust system and and and and........
