Where to put the supercharger?

I need your opinion on what you would do.

I have a 99 Tacoma Ext cab SR5 manual w/ V6 and a first gen (the white one) supercharger. Runs great. No pinging, runs great. 91,000 miles. Still has original water pump and timing belt replaced. Nose gear and belt has just been replaced on the SC. The outside is in good shape with new goodyear tires on stock 15" alloys. The interior isn't mint, and their are some stains on the floor and carpets. Brake shoes were just replaced. Everything is in good working shape though.

I also have a 98 4runner SR5 4x4 V6 manual. I drove this everyday for over a year, and even when I got the truck, didn't plan on selling it. I was just going to let the wife drive it and sell the honda. It is very clean, and the interior is very plush and clean. It has 120,000 miles on it. I just put Nitto 275/75/16 Grapplers on it too. Runs fantastic and I just replaced the water pump and timing belt.

I think I want to change things around again, and get my wife into something with aroudn 50K miles. We plan on having kids in a year or so, and it would be nice to get her in something that stands a better chance of not leaving her stranded. I have been missing the 4runner, and when I get in it to move it around the driveway, I can really feel how much better the vehicle suits me. The ride is softer, quieter, and allows me to haul my band equipment around on our gigs much easier. It really is the perfect vehicle for me, except I am bitten by the power bug now. So it brings me to my question to you guys (not like you can't guess what I am about to ask?)

Would you take the charger off of the tacoma and put it on the 4runner and sell the truck? It seems like the logical answer to meet my needs, and I realized that I don't use the truck for it's hauling ability very often. I can carry everything but dirt in the 4runner very easily. I am sure it is a tough question to answer without knowing the condition of the engine, but what would you do?

Thanks,
Wes

Most people seem to go back to stock on their veh. when they sell it because its easier to sell. I would say keep the supercharger and sell the truck.

Thanks for the reply!
I think it might actually sell better without the supercharger on it. Since both engines have so many miles, I can't really take that into consideration anyhow.
I think it would take about a day to do the swap. Just back both vehicles into the garage, and get to work!
Thanks again,
Wes

You would end up losing money because:
1) People would assume you beat up your car because it is faster with the s/c, so they'll try to give you less money for it or not buy it at all.
2) The s/c cost you about $2000, and your not going to get $2000 over the value of your vehicle because of the s/c.
3) If you ever want to s/c the 4Runner, you'll have to pay for another s/c if you sell the old s/c with the truck.
You're making the right choice. If you don't want it, instead of losing money, you can give it to me.

Take the S/C off of the Taco and install it on the 4Runner. It will do you no good to keep it on the Tacoma, and you will regret not keeping it.

All of my vehicles have gone back to stock prior to me selling it.

My point is if he sells it, he's not going to recover the money he spent for it. And if he decides to put one in the 4R later, he'll spend another $1800 or so, which would total around $3800 spent for the s/c, when he could just keep this one. I'm talking about actual cost, not market value.

I understand ya. I have had a couple tacomas, and have had this 4runner for over a year, and have been wanting a SC forever. I could never pull the trigger though. I ended up wanting to get a tacoma for some crazy reason, and found this one for a great price, so I got it. Now I can't go without the SC. It really made that much differnence for me.
I'll throw it on there and sell the truck. I just hope 120K miles isn't too much, regardless of how well the engine runs. I don't run the crap out of it, but it's used a couple of times a day.
Oh, I assume that I won't need any new parts for the switchover? Or maybe a gasket or two? Let me know what you guys are thinking so I can get it on.
thanks,
wes

*offtopic*

Wes, what did you ever do with the suspension on the 4Runner? Pondering that still?

Yea, I still have the shocks. I am thinking a nice 3" lift is where I want to go now. I just don't want to have to do a body lift, and I don't want to have to do a diff drop. I just want to change the shocks and springs and forget it. And since my 4runner doesn't sag in the rear, and don't want it to go "downhill" on me when I jack up the rear end.
Oh well, can't have everything I guess.
