whats wrong with this picture?

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...Y&cardist=2309

Other than the intake manifold looking stripped of paint, I dont get it. Carfax shows a clean title with proper mileage.

Anyone have an idea? Hell id pay 8k for the thing shipped to my door, I just dont get why its so cheap. Its the only 3.4L Anthracite manual ive been able to dig up, and the price...well if it were right down the street id own it already. Seems too good to be true!

Im stumped....ive always heard the east coast does weird things (rust etc) to cars...but 6.5k for this thing??

Anyone in VA wanna do me a favor? heh

odd...

That does seem like a good deal. It even has a locker.

That's a deal. I say if it has a decent interior, get it.

That price does sound really low. I would be very leery.

if theres nothing wrong with it that is a really good price....only drawback visable in the add is 134,000 miles...but then again its a yota so i wouldnt worry too much....but just by way of comparison... i paid $7000 for my '95 with 30,000 less miles...i was actually looking for a 3rd gen but all the ones i found either had low miles and thus were outta my price range or had high miles...so ended up going a year older so i could get a well maintained truck with under 100,000 on it...

I would have a certified mechanic fully check it out if you were really interested. Price seems to be ok, average for my area.

Anyone in or around VA wanna find out if this thing got dunked in saltwater or something?

I figure the frames rusted through and theres dead tuna in the engine compartment somewhere....seems way too good to be true!

Heck, for that money I'd dump my 2001, buy that and pay off my bills! Would be leery of it unless the dealer has had it on his lot for too long and is paying floor plan interest on it. Needs a definite visual check out.

Also, the 5spd in DC is a killer due to the traffic and that it's not popular out there. Here in CO you'd get 8-10k for it. Guarantee it's never been off-road and the locker has never been used.

With a locker that thing is definately worth the price!!!
Even if it had 200,000 it would still be a deal.
I say go for it!

......you will at least get your money back if you dont want it.

You know, it might be the "6-dics changer" that's scaring people off. Sounds like something Lorena Bobbitt would have in her car ...

Call the salesman, explain your calling long distance and are prepared to fly out to look at the truck but want him to get the keys and varify everything in the ad. Get him to go out to the truck and visual check everything.

I'd wager a fair amount that the truck is not what the ad says it is. It'll be 2WD or something.

The pics clearly show that it's 4wd.

I bet the reason it's so cheap is

1. It's a 5 speed manual in the DC area.

2. Anthracite isn't the most popular of colors.

3. It's an 8 year old manual 4wd SUV with over a 130k miles that doesn't have leather or sunroof and isn't the most popular of colors in an area where appearances (color) and conveniences (manual vs auto) matter most.

The oxidation under the hood is most likely from using some engine cleaner while the engine was still hot. The salt on the roads doesn't help any.

It's a reputable dealer selling it. Explain your situation and get a full and accurate description over the phone with the dealer standing at the car while he talks. Also, get some pics of areas that you may want to see more of, like the RR Diff switch to verify that it has one. Make them provide you with a title check to verify it's history. Other than that, book your plane ticket and go get it...

As for the discolored manifold, get a S/C from TOR and replace it! No more ugly intake, and more fun with a 5spd!

What are the resale laws like there? Could that be a flood recovery vehicle? Some states they can hide the flood recovery. I'd have it checked out w/ a good mech., and search for water damage. That'd be a 10 to 12K rig here.............. MAN!!! Thats cheap!

Yeah i called them soon after finding it (it was posted a whole whopping 2 days)

The salesman I talked to sounded a little iffy about the rust in the engine bay, but yeah, they had sold it the previous day...could have been more a bait-and-sell than anything.

Once again, my search continues!
