I have seen pics of rigs that run guy wires from the top hoops of their bumpers (ARB/TJM) to the corners of their roof carriers.

Why?

 

Used to push tree branches out of the way...I guess so they don't get hit the windshield and get caught on the roof rack.

At least I'm pretty sure that's what they are for?!?!

 

That's my understanding of what that is for also, to push branches and crap away from your windshield.

 

Yup that is exactly it, they are called limb risers, they help catch limbs as they come at the truck and push them up and over the body, Land Rover guys use them more often than any body else I don't exactly know why, maybe b/ they are wheeling a 40K truck . But a couple of the guys I go w/have them on their Land Rovers and one has them on his Jeep Cherokee, they work really well and help move you down the tril faster w/o stoping to movebranches, I just run close behind and use thier limb liftng abilities, hehe. I will definately run me a set when ever I can afford an ARB.

 

Any pictures? What would you use to secure it to the roof and to the bumper? And how do you get it over the headlight area? I really like this idea...I don't wheel that much, but when I do I always groan when I see lowhanging branches and stuff. What happens if you snap a cable....you lose your windshield???

Seems like that would definitley come in handy.

As for the synthetic line, OUTSTANDING IDEA. Just one more thing to drain the ole' checking account.

 

 

I always used my arm to scoot away unwanted trees and branches. It feels good and your arm becomes one with the forest.

 

Yea, but they also hold your roof rack down on the roof when you have heavy loads on it to keep heavy up drafts from pulling up on the roofrack..

 

Dude that's pretty cool. I wonder if they would work on Cacti?
