What size is front wheel bearing nut?

What size is front wheel bearing nut?
I took off the hub and my god, the thing is huge! 
The biggest I had was a 32 mm and it was no where near it. I was going to adjust the wheel bearings because they feel loose(play in the wheel/tire/hub).
