what postion is your pitman arm in ?

what postion is your pitman arm in ?

i replaced my pitman arm and other ball joints and such , and i may have putthe pitman arm on i nthe wrong postion , in fact , the store i took it to told me it was but wanted ot charge me over $100 just to remove and turn it to the proper postion.
i ended up moving the steering wheel a lot when i was removing and replacing all the fornt end peices. so now things are a bit whacked.
the store got it aligned but my steering wheel is of by about maybe one degree and my steering is way more limited truning to the left then it is to the right .
so i figured id find someone ot compare it to.
i have a 95 4runner , 5 speed , 4 door 3.0. not sure if any of the info is important.

im thinknig if someone could tell me by way of the face of a clock , front of vehcile being noon, and give me an idea of where theres sits . id really apprecaite it .

by the way i got both left and right upper and lower ball joints , all the steering end rods and sleeves and pitman arm and idler arm for $250 shipped brand new on ebay , from an outfit in canada . great product great fitment , and most of the parts are moog. and i now have 4 extra greaseable components. pm if you wantot know this guys ebay name.

I'm guessing instead of turning(or moveing whatever you want to call it) the pitman arm they probably adjusted the tierod ends. Not only will this limit the steering, but it can be dangerous depending how many threads your tierods are hanging onto. If I were you, i would move the arm back, and have your truck realined. Also it wouldn't hurt to ask to talk to the manger(of the place that did your alingment) and explain your situation.

im sure they did , because i didnt pay the fee to have them change the pit man arm. so they adjusted as best they could and keep the steering wheel straight.

i figued i could change the postion of the puitman arm and have it reaglined .

There are alignment marks on the pitman arm and the steering box, match them up and you have your arm in the right position.

Yep, simple as that. BUT, note that aftermarket arms (I put on a Moog) may not line up everything exactly. You might still have to time the steering gear and adjust the tie rods to A) make sure the gear is centered when the wheels are straight, and then B) to center your wheel.

thanks for the help guys , any one got a picture of the marks ? im not sure if the after market one has one , or if what im looking at is the mark .

My aftermarket arm had a mark. On the end of the shaft from the steering gear there was a mark, and there was one on the arm. (They wouldn't line up, the mark was off 1/3 of a tooth or 2/3 tooth....)
