About 3 weeks ago i installed a rebuilt napa power steering pump and a rebuilt steering box. About a week later it started making weird grinding noises that usually go away after the engine is warm.... Now another strange sound is coming from the same area. Could it just be the belts? Or do i have a defective steering pump?

Did you check the condition of the idler pulley on the p/s belt? If not, pull the belt and give the pulley a spin and check for grittiness or looseness while turning. If found, you can replace the bearing, I carry bearings for most of the idler pulleys Toyota uses.
