weird engine noise
please help me identify the following sounds:
SOUND #1:
CHOOK CHOOK CHOOK CHOOK CHOOK
continuously. i noticed it once it started to get cold out, and its gone away here and there, but its the most obnoxious thing ever, as i can feel the slight vibration in the steering wheel.
i tried turning the heat off, thinking maybe its noisy like the a/c unit, but its not heater-related.
SOUND #2:
for some reason, this weird airy sound has been emitting from what i can only assume is the transmission. whenever i accelerate (hit the gas pedal at all) it makes a sort of whispy, asthmatic noise.
any ideas???
thanks dudes.

i get a weird sound at certain speeds/rpms. kinda like that first one. i cant describe it, its like a warbling. i get it when i let off the throttle and barely touch the gas. if somebody has a clue, i would love to know what that sound is too.

I get a noise that could be what your sound #1 is.
When it's cold, and humid, a little rust forms on the exposed portion of the belt pulleys, and the belts make noise, until the light rust is worn off.
When it's warm and dry, this doesn't happen.

that could indeed be it.
i have a belt that needs to be changed anyhow, im gonna go ahead and do that, see if it goes away.
im really annoyed by that transmission sound (#2)... no idea what that is. its this wispy, airy, asthmatic almost grind (like a light grind) that goes on with every push of the gas pedal...
i gotta get rid of it!

could you hear that inside the cabin, all windows closed, air off, radio off?
it actually changes in severity... sometimes being ridiculously obvious, other times its less easy to identify.
god these two issues are irking me!

to update:
noise 1 is a loose bearing, so sayeth the dude i trust its not so bad, and i dont mind it.
noise 2 has completely gone away with absolutely no reason. it disappeared the day i brought the truck in and hasnt returned.
as i said... weird!
