Question Very Strange...

Today, I was crusing around, driving at some low rpms (1500-3000). Then, while in 2nd gear, I floored it, and as soon as I passed about 3000rpm, it seemed as though the fuel was being cut off rapidly. The engine would get gas, then it cut off for a split second, then gas, then no gas, then no gas. The truck would jerk forward then seem to stall, then jerk forward, then almost stall. It was very strange. This happened in 3rd, and 4th. But only when I got into high rpms. And while this was happening, my ECU was making a wierd clicking noise. The check engine light didn't flash. Does anyone know what this could of been. It seems to be running fine now, but it was scary at the time. Thanks.

check your fuel filter. If that is not the problem then sheck fuel pump.

Have autozone check for stored codes. Also, check your plugs and see what they look like. They are a great indicator as to what's going on in there.

Check your plug wires as well. If they're frayed, you could be getting intermittent spark. Do this before you blame the fuel pump (don't ask me how I know this....)

Thanks for the replies. As of right now, the truck is running fine. It only happened once, for no reason. Very strange...

Even when I was at half throttle, as soon as it got up to the 3000+ RPM range, it sputtered.

Right off the bat I'd have to agree with jdecker...sounds like it's the beginnings of a fuel filter failure (clogin' up) to me.
