Jiffy Who? I won't start with the stories, but umh. The worst dealer service dept is better than going to Jiffy lube.
And I'll leave it at that.:pat:

You can look around your area for an independent quick lube that will work with you. Let them know your concerns, ask questions about how they flush the tranny, price, etc. and decide on the best one if you don't want to do it yourself.

I found one close, determined the manager was an astute car enthusiast and cared about my concerns. They charge $59.95 for a total flush. $49.95 if you bring in AMSOIL or whatever. You can watch them and ask questions. I even sponsored this manager as an AMSOIL dealer! Double win!

Do it yourself if you feel confident, Gadget's site and AMSOil's site
both have great info, if not, find the best deal. It's not rocket science folks.

Amen RidgeRunner. At this point I'm prep'ing to do the tranny flush, front/rear diff's and tranfer case myself. Shouldn't be a big deal at all now that Gadget was kind enough to ease my concerns and explained how unsophistated the tranny flush machines really are.

The main reason I asked about the 80W-90 was I'm gathering all the lube (Amsoil) and I just wanted to save myself the extra trip by getting it right the first time. I'm probably going to do the rear diff breather extension as well since I'll already be back working back there. Sounds like Saturday afternoons going to be an official "motorhead" day.

After that.... brake system flush and deckplate mod.

I did exactly what you are going to do, and I also wanted to get all my ˟˟˟˟˟ straight before I attacked it. But did I miss something? Why not follow what your manual says to use for the differential? What ever my manual said, I ordered from Amsoil.

Don't forget to get a type old siphon hose to get the oil into the differentials.

Look at this

You can't just pour oil into the diffs like you do with engine oil.

Yep... ordered a siphon a fews days ago so it should be here any day now. I also broke down and got a Hayden #678 tranny cooler too. Maybe I'm just getting 'soft' in my old age, but I figured screw it, I'll be in there doing the tranny flush anyway, so why not just do the tranny cooler as well and get it over with.

Thanks tomstin. The siphons for the front/rear diffs, not the tranny. A hand-pump siphon is needed to suck the new fluid from the bottle and pump it into the top of the diffs since its too tight to get a bottle up there without making a real mess.

The Amsoil info you provided is the method I plan on doing.

Thanks.

Hillbilly, do you have access to compressed air? I be darn if I can find a picture, but somewhere on the net I saw (and used myself) a method to pump fluid into the diffs. Carefully drill two holes in the lid of the fluid container, place a tube long enough to reach from the bottom of the container to the diff fill hole. Now, pump the compressed air into the open hole and the fluid flows up the tube into the diff! Worked like a champ! But as I said, I can't seem to find that picture anywhere these days! It's an alternative! Good luck!

Yea... I've got an air compressor. Sounds like a cool alternative as long as to get a good seal on the fill lines. Unfortunately I've aleady ordered (and recieved the shipping confirmation) on the hand-pump siphon. It'll actually be almost as much to keep it as it would be to pay for return shipping to kick it back.

Thanks for the idea though...

You can get a pump from the auto parts store to pump the fluid into the diffs. I got mine from Trak Auto a while ago for about $5. It is made by Sta-Lube and you can find it in the section where they have the gear lubes. It fits the AMSOIL bottles perfectly.

Just take the top off the AMSOIL bottles and screw this thing into the bottle, stick the hose in the diff, it has a barbed tip to hole it in and then pump away. Each stroke moves an OZ of fluid. Simple, fast, no mess.
