tires on 85 toyota

will 33*12.50*15 fit on my truck. i have a 2 inch body lift on it. or should i go with 31*10.50*15. i dont have enough money right now to put in 488 gears, i was wondering if the 33's would be too much tire for my 22re.

im sorry i meant a 2 inch shackle lift.

33's might be tight with only a 2" body lift. I was able to physically fit 33's on my '85 4Runner with no lift. However, the front wheels would not turn, I could only go straight.

this is what i've found:
84-85 Pickup
33" 3" lift 4.88 gears
34" 5" lift 4.88 or 5.29 gears
35" 5" lift 5.29 gears
36+" Lots

you might be able to with some rubbing, or you can trim some and get them to fit. the 22-re will be fine for in-town driving, highway it struggles with the stock gears, and face it, the toyota trucks werent made to go fast, just to get you there

Hey
I had an 85 strait axle with the 22RE and had 33x12.50 on it.
I started with a 2.5 suspension lift but the tires would rub when turning and when I would go wheeling I kept hitting the top of my inner fender well. I ended up putting on a 3 inch shackle lift and that did da trick. Just remember to re-do the brake lines...... because broken brakes suck.
As for the the gears..... I never re-did my gears but I wish I would have. I just ended up using 3ed gear a lot. I took a while to get up to speed and my top speed was about 75 mph. I ran 33 with out re-doing the gears for about 3 years befor the tranny and gears when out (had about 250,000 miles when they whent).
The only bad thing I ever did was sell the dam thing......

If you have any more Questions... I did a lot of mods to my 85. There is a lot you can do to get some more power out of da 22RE.

Thank you for serving our country... I tried to get into da Marine Flight traing but got DQed for my eye sight.
Good luck on you quest to become a police officer... Washington State Patrol love to hire Marines. (my assistant fire chief was a WSP officer and a Marine).

Hey good luck with the truck... some advice: Don't sell that truck. I'm still trying to buy my old 85 back from the girl my brother sold it to.

Try posting the question in the appropriate area. This is for later model Tacos and Runners.
