Tire/wheel size

hey, I am buying a 2000 4runner pretty soon, and i am going to put 2.5" suspension lift on it. I am pretty sure that that will allow for 285/75/16 tires, which are what 33's? Now, if i were to put lets say 2 more inches in body lift, what size tires could i fit? Also, I dont understand things like offset and backspacing. Could someone please explain? Thanks

MellamoPOUND:

With a 2.5" suspension lift you can add some 285's(33's) with minor rubbing at full lock and full compression. Pounding and trimming will get rid of this problem.

I think with the 2" body lift you can go up to 35's but I can't personally guarantee that as there are only a select few members here that have 35's (2 I think). I don't remember exactly what their setup was but I'm certain the with atlesat 5-6" lift (total, body and suspension), you should be able to get 35's in there.

As for offset and backspacing, well depending on the tire size makes the diff I think. I know people use different backspacing/offset for the 33's and 35's so I would suggest doing some homework

sample link should give you some info to get ya started. The search feature works well as long as you go through each one in detail. It takes time but I know this topic has been discussed awhile ago so start diggin

2.5" susp + 2" body will clear 33x1250s on an 8" wheel for sure. my buddy has this set up.

35x1250s will be a stretch, not to mention stressful on your driveline.
