Tint Removal

I want to re-tint my windows with a darker tint. What do you remove the existing tint?

Here's a good link:

I'd suggest reading beyond the instructions as he's got some stories at the bottom that might interest you.

I used "Goo gone" and a ton of paper towels. The Goo gone will leave a little film on the glass which I cleaned up with Windex. It takes a bit of muscle and it comes off in little sticky balls. You can buy Goo gone at any paint or hardware store. Be sure to atleast have the door open because it starts to smell pretty powerful after a while.

windex and a razor blade soak the glue down good and use the razor blade to remove it and then clean with paper towels pretty easy job don't spare on soaking the glue with windex and you may have to spray it a couple of times before you get it all

I used the garbage bag - Ammonia method. Worked great. Wear goggles and a cartridge respirator.

Peel tint off first ( if good quality tint it should come off in big sections ) Then use glass cleaner or I always put water in a spray bottle then add liquid soap, this way it won't suds up. Spray the glue, soak it good. Use a razor blade and it will come right off. Nice and slimy mess!!!! Before you retint your windows you need to really make sure there are no glue at all left on the windows. It will show up and look awful.
