Timing belt replacement
#1
I'm about to roll 89K on my 4runner and I'm wondering how important it is to replace the timing belt before 90K as per Toyota. Does anyone have any recommendations on this...can I go another 5K without too much danger of blowing it?
Thanks!

There are a ton of posts, including one about how many miles people have on their original belts. I changed mine out at 95k while adding a S/C. The timing belt was amazingly easy, after figuring out the crank bolt!! You can go until the belt snaps, and nothing bad will happen to your motor...but I really hate being stranded on the side of the road, so I changed mine.

Didn't change mine til 121k also did water pump and front seals just because. No issues prior I just didn't want to push it, and was going out of town that week so the Runner would have sat. Don't be scurrrd 90K is recomended not law.

Is it recommended to change the camshaft seals and the idlers or the idler bearings? I have heard this recommended for other vehicles, particularly the idlers, but I'm not sure if this applies to the 5VZFE.
