Just make your own since the stealership is the only other option.

I actually did a lot of searching for the best place to get the scooped hood. Northridge Toyota was my best source, but they warned me that anytime a hood is shipped it's nearly always damaged and that it's a huge hassle. They recommended getting one locally.

I ended up having my body shop get the hood. They have agreements with local dealerships and get parts pretty reasonably. I'd imagine a reputable body shop in your area would be the same. The hood was $322 from my body shop and was OEM. They said they could get me an aftermarket for around $180, but they didn't reccommend it due to fit and warranty. The scoop insert parts were about $100 or so.

How much did you pay to get it painted?

That was actually the expensive part. I took mine to the best body shop in my area as I'm pretty anal and I know they do immaculate work. I paid about $700 total for labor and paint/clear. That included painting the hood (including the under side), clear coat, installation, wet sanding, and buffing.

I found places that would do it for about $400, but they never mentioned blending the hood into the front fenders so that worried me. The place I took it blended everything and it's a perfect match.

The total for everything was just under $1400.

Black primer.

The body shop told me the OEM hood came with a lifetime warranty on paint/finish. That's another reason I went with it over after market.

hmmmm
Like that warranty....
I think I could deal with black primer for a while...
I did want to do a black (and Anthracite Metallic) and getting rid of anything chrome...
I will have to ask step dad where he took his olds to get painted...
They did an excelent job (and that was the entire car) for a really good price so....
But man would I love that hood...

I got my hood painted for around $300 (I can't remember exactly) from where the dealer sends their stuff. So the dealer kinda hooked me up and sent me there, told me to tell them Dave sent me..... you know how that goes. Anyways, they did not blend, recommended a detail place that buffed the whole car for about $60 and the color matched perfect.

Another option is the carbon fiber hood from burtman industries. Don't need to paint it if you like the carbon look. I was considering it when I recently had my hood painted..

Yea, and this hood weighs about hald as much as the oem hood does, for those trying to save weight, hehe. It does come as all one piece.

I thought the scoop was open on this one though which lets all manner of crap in the engine bay?
