Nice clean job on the speaker box. x2 on the fans or more venting for the amp.

Good luck on the trans issues.

Will update on the Transmission after I drop it off for a valve body adjustment next week and can really test it out. It is drivable again and i am LOVING the high stall converter.

While we are waiting here is that sub box.

Finally got the electrical disconnects in which was the last thing I was waiting on.

For anyone looking for something like this, took me FOREVER to find these. Anderson makes a nice connector that is perfect and cheap if you search directly for Anderson and not the re-named things places resale them as.

As an Anderson connector they are $5 for a pair. Rebadged as an AMP quick connect or a winch quick connect they are $40.

Here is the one I got: eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

I also installed the A/D/S P640.2 and it works great, just what I was wanting for volume and SQ is good too. The speakers are the weak link now for sure.

Here is the finished product installed:

I mounted it with some Zip-ties for now with a few small holes I drilled. Will work fine till I decide If i am going to go bigger. Could also use bungys.

Sound is pretty good but they are really small subs. If I do it again I think a little bigger subs will work real well. Also looking at the space I have available and after seeing how this worked out I think I might upgrade it.

I am thinking an 8" with one of those compact rockford amps would be nice in this same setup and only take a little more space.

My Sub

I am running a Kicker 10" DVC sub with a reference 500 amp and the sound is perfect for me, bass is loud if needed but I keep it turned down.

I could use something like that but I like a high SQ system, that would be way overkill. I am not sure what I am going to do, for now with the upgraded main amp and this subwoofer setup it sounds good enough for now. I will get some other things taken care of before worrying about a bigger sub.

Ideally I think I would use an ID 8" or 10" sub with a compact amp in a box like the one I just made.

Glad your tranny issue worked out so far!

I get to help put a new auto tranny in a buddy's mazda pickup this week, seeing that transmission lift from HF looks like money well spent. Not looking forward to hefting that thing...

Yeah, just got it back from the shop yesterday after they adjusted it actually. Much better now. Gonna drive it a little before making a video/writing a review as I think I might have them make it a tad tighter but it is real close and FAR better then stock for sure.

That transmission jack is worth the money for sure. You need a flat level and smooth surface for it to work though and got to think ahead and deciding how to "mount" the transmission to the jack to make sure the jack won't hit anything while putting it into place (on the 4runner it likes to hit the sway bar if you put it on wrong).

Now that the transmission is no longer the weak link it makes me start thinking about more power again. I am thinking about putting together a setup that should easily net me mid to high 300s whp. Up to 700whp if I got real gutsy, although I kinda doubt the stock block will hold together for that.

That is all a discussion for another thread though..... which I may be starting soon if I can get the turbo in......

mmmmm.... dreams of the turbo.... one day when I'm rich....

I really want to do a nice turbo in my truck and put the SC on my old 4runner after an engine swap but don't see it happening in the real near future.

350whp is my realistic goal for the taco, I think my manual tranny would hold up to that as long as I treat it good and don't get too stupid.

BTW, how much are you paying for methanol there in TX? Methanol where I have been buying it is now up to $8/gallon plus tax, crazy. Was only paying $5/gal when I started using it a few years ago! Still well worth the $$

I am glad that you posted up the link to that tranny jack, I am for sure recommending my buddy shelling out for that to make this replacement go quick. It's a little 2wd pickup tho, shouldn't be too crazy.

happy shifting!!

Well, like clown showed you can do a turbo setup on the very cheap if you want. Cheaper then a supercharger is well within reach.

Personally the setup I have in mine will be what I consider maximizing a remote turbo setup and will be using quality parts so it will cost more but Excluding the turbo I still hope to get the rest of the kit put together for around $1000 or a little more.

The rest of the details will be released later, nothing out of the world but a few new ideas and tweaks to improve the setup all with a 700whp capable turbo.

The manual tranny should hold up nice at that power level long as you don't wheel hop it or get sticky tires and drop the clutch a lot.

I just got a barrel of methanol locally for ~$2.75/Gal IIRC. Well worth it to buy the barrel IMO. Easier for me to store and dispense, plus cheaper. Also with the larger nozzle I am running now and plan to run I will be using more of it then I used to so good to have more around.

93oct. I always run 93oct in any boosted engine. Not worth the risk for the little savings IMO.

Well in california we can only get 91, unless going to a station that sells race gas. Looking forward to installing a Devils Own kit as soon as they are back in stock.

x2 on hi test. it may be older but it's retarded to NOT pay only 20 cents more for 5 or 6 more octane IMO when gas is $3 or $4/gal.

people argue that the engines were 'designed' for 87 but there's a thing called an ECU... works wonders

good score on the methanol, a barrel might be in my near future...

I got a question or two. I'm down to either the devils own DVC-30 Stage 2 or Snow Stage 2 MAF Boost Cooler but can't decide.(please don't consider the price difference between the two) which one is more user friendly and which one is more reliable? I have 98 4runner with the 1 gen s/c BONE STOCK Thanks for your input

I am not a fan of snow, all of their stuff is overpriced. They do work fine, just cost more for the same features.

I honestly prefer the Coolingmist CMGS kit, that is what I am running now and it has worked great, lot of features as well. Bang for the buck that is the one I would get.

If you want something cheaper/simplier then the devils own kit is a good kit. Very basic but it works fine.

Thanks for the info. Is the boost activated controller better or the MAF for my setup? I can the Snow kit on ebay for just a little more the Devils Own.

Devils own also offers a 0-5v controller (that is all the maf controller is). I have not personally tried the 0-5v signal from the MAF on our trucks so can't comment on how well it would work. I know the boost controller works fine.

The guy at Devils Own said that the MAF ones were problematic on the 4runner but every thing else I've read said that MAF controller is the way to go on the positive displacement blowers.

Thats what I kinda figured might be the case, the maf signal may not be very stable due to the way things are setup.

Stick to a boost activated setup IMO.

The Cooling mist CMGS is just a little rich for me at the moment. I'm trying to get one in before the Oklahoma heat settles in. BTW how did you fare against the twisters?
