synthetic winch cable

I'm in the market for some synthetic winch cable. Today after winching twice with the wire rope I have decided to make the switch. After only using it twice it has gotten caught up and tangled like hell. If I would have been in the woods alone trying to get this stuff un-tangled, I would have been ˟˟˟˟˟ed! I had fun though pulling a JEEP out TWICE Where is a good place to buy synthetic cable online? Corey, I searched your site and found some excellent information

Aye, Data. Good choice to switch.

Some good reading:

You saw the links I had then on my site to the other write-ups?

There is a new line out now even better than the stuff I have.
Here's the article:

I still like my line though, it's already pulled out a stuck Toy in the snow last April.

When you get it, you will wonder why you ever used the steel cable.

i can still use my current warn snatch block with this synthetic stuff correct?? Also would it hurt anything to move up to 150ft of rope vs. my current 125ft? I was just curious if the 9500i could hold 150ft worth.

You can use your current snatch block with no problems.

I run 100' of the 5/8" or 5/16" line.
I forget which, but it's what they recommened, and the same size as the wire rope that that came on the winch.

Not sure how much you can fit on there, they should know when you order it.

I read somewhere that exposure to the sun for a period of time will damage & break down the synthetic cable. I've noticed that lots of other aftermarket bumpers have the winch sort of "hidden" from view unlike mine. Has anyone ever ran into any problems like this that you know of? Mine is exposed majorly to the sun b\c it is out in the open. I suppose I could buy a cover

Yes, the ARB & TJM's are the "hidden" winch design.
You also have to take the bumper off to even get to the winch.
Good for theft prevention.

I'd say make a custom cover for yours to keep the line out of the sun.
The line is treated with a UV protectant though.
Maybe rub some sunblock 40 on once a month

I'm sure you could come up with some kind of a cover for it.
How about the place that built it?
Maybe a clip on light weight alloy cover, or black plastic?

Warn does make winch covers out of plastic & vinyl.
Here's the page.

They have covers also for the roller fairlead which would stop the UV from coming in that way also.

I don't think cold will matter.
These ropes are used on ocean going vessels year round.

I use a thick sheet of rubber to keep my rope protected from the elements.
