Angry Bahhhhhh!!!!!!!!

ok well here is the deal...

this morning i went out to the garage and hop in my runner. everything is going just fine, until i get to school. i park my car and proceed to open the door. but to my surprise, the door wont open:eek: so i check to see if its locked, and its not, so i try again, and again and again, this thing wont budge!

so i end up crawling over my center console thing and exit through the passenger side door. coming back from class, i hope maybe somehow the Toyota gods were looking over me and somehow magically fixed my door, so i go an try and open it again, but to no avail! so i manage to get in through the passenger side door again.

so i take it over to my local stealer (and boy do i mean stealer). i tell them what happened and they take it back to see whats wrong.

and now i just got a call from them that says i need a new latch and that the sloenoid needs replacing. and wouldnt you all like to guess how much????

$408!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i was freakin mad as heck so now i wont get my car back til tomorrow. has this happened to anyone, and can anyone see how they can possibly justify charging me $408??? this is highway robbery if you ask me, but what can i do

Casey!!!!

This exact same thing happened to me just about 3 weeks ago. It was my left passenger door. (93 Runner) Same exact thing as yours -- it wouldn't open form the inside or outside. I took it to my Toyota Dealer and they replaced a small clip that had broken off on the inside. Total cost including parts and labor --- $74.00 I think they are trying to take advantage of you. Does your electric door locks work when you push on the button on the door panel? If it does, I doubt that you need a solenoid. But don't quote me on that. Good luck!

ya the electric locks work just fine, but i cant get out or in that door for the life of me!
im gonna call them and ask exactly why im being charged so much. i think they said the whole part that opens the door is broken (like the whole latch or something). but i just dont see why it would be $400!
