Ok, So i've read that the stock pipe size on a 3rd gen is 2.25" (i've got a 1996 SR5), but I was out last night measuring my pipes (using a caliper) and they were about 2.51" on the outside of the pipe (both in front and behind the muffler), and the inner diamater was about 2.48" This sure sounds like a 2.5" pipe to me... anyawys, just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy before I ordered my magnaflow muffler (looking at the 24" with 2.5" piping http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku )

Also, if anyone knows of a place to get that muffler cheaper, speak up!

 

Its 2.25. The pipe "expands" at the tip to 2.5. Ebay usually has pretty good deals on Magnaflow mufflers.

 

Pick up an 18" or 24" Magnaflow from Performance Peddler on Ebay...he usually will take an offer of like $50-55 for them. Good deal!

Have you considered the ISR mod? If you want loud, do that mod and make sure your deckplate is open. WOT in 2nd gear takes on a whole new meaning. Before I was SC'd it would wake my wife up when I put my foot in it on road trips. She loved it

 

i love the deckplate mod its soo loud cant wait to add a 18'' magnaflow when i get some money

 

I drove my friend's 4Runner with the 18" version and it got aanoying after half a day of driving and I'm going to just stick with a 24" since it still sounds good but no attention getting loud.

 

I just ordered my 18" magnaflow from Performance Peddler http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magna...spagenameZWD1V ($65.97 shipped)... I can't wait to hear it with the Deckplate and Amsoil filter. I heard a sound clip of the 18" and it was my favorite (deep, not too loud, and mean sounding). It is *supposed* to be here on monday, and if it is I'll be sure to comment on the boards on the sound!

BTW what is the ISR mod? And my deckplate is open 99.5% of the time anyways... honestly i just put it on right before I approach a puddle that I am unsure of the depth ... and I don't want the 'runner to be too loud

 

Intake Silencer Removal = ISR. Its that long wierd shped piece of plastic between the intake and the mani, that pionts down toward the ground. Search ISR and there is a write-up.

Well, I actually searched and removed the intake silencers last night... WOW, that sounds mean!

 

nice i did that but i bought a fexible intake tube but soon to be replaced with a real one

 

Eventually I am going to either fiberglass, or bend some aluminum pipe to replace the intake pipe... Should help out a tiny bit with airflow... but it will make it look about 50 times better. Otherwise, does anyone know where I can find a metal pipe that fits our 3rd gen application?

 

Haha, I just started looking on ebay and what not, to find an intake arm that would fit... thanks for the link. Also, since I already have this thread going, Has anyone done a throttle body spacer, and does it actually give any power gains? In addition, one of my jeep buddies bored out his stock throttle body, would that help us 3rd gen owners at all (I have no idea how the stock throttle body is)

 

throttle body spacer = junk and boring out the throttle body helps a little bit theres a few threads around here that explan it better

 

back to the original question...(holy thread resurection, I know) Stock size on the 95.5-04 Taco's... is 2.25 inch, and it expands at the tip of the pipe to 2.5 right? If I have a magnaflow with 2.5 inch inlet...I can just put an adapter on the pipe right at the muffler, right?

 

if you already have the muffler there wont be a huge gap around the muffler just weld it on

 

I just bought the muffler, it should be here in a day or two...your saying just weld the 2.5 inlet to the 2.25 inch pipe, and shouldnt have any problems? it will be fine without an adapter, or flaring the pipe out to 2.5 inches?
