Soft Tops

How much do the soft tops run for? Where can you get them? Any web links? Also ... my (stock) bumpers are trash. Any recommendations (after market)?
ANYBODY UP ON EFI?

Nevermind ... looked up some past posts on the subject. EXPENSIVE! Maybe I'll buy a sewing machine.

Soft Tops

Actually, I would like to know, I saw one site that sold them for just under $500, but does anyone know other sites and prices?

There was a kayline on ebay that nobody bid on that ended earlier this week

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

you could contact him and try to get it for less since nobody bid.

I dont think there is anyone beside K-line ( and they sold out to someone else) that still makes the tops. Can-back went under I think. But you can still find them used online on some forums.

Specialty Top CO. bought the Kayline designs a few years back or you can make your own bikini top:

Try partstrain.com for the bumpers. I bought a front one (before I racked it up) and was pleased, the differences aren't perceptible unless you're looking for them. You should be able to get a full assembly including the valance for around $150 in chrome, subtract 20-40 for black.

So what is it that you want that cost $1500 and how long a turnaround did they quote you? Would you have to pay a deposit or all up front? How much?

the top I wanted had side windows and roof rack capability.. wouldn't give me a time frame..?? Said they were backlogged and we didn't talk about payment... I believe it was 1500 shipped. I'd have to dig back through my notes.. I ordered a bumper instead. I still want one, just no extra $$ right now. And I believe it was around the first of april when I called. It did take some searching to get a number that worked.. sorry that I'm as clear as muddy water..

When I talked to truck candy several weeks ago about the can back top for my truck they said that I had to pay the $1500 up front and then wait for about 4 - 6 months to recieve it. I laughed and said 'nope'. Can back is in business but like stated above they are laying low and there back log is outrageous. From what I could get out of the guy at Truck Candy there was some kind of power struggle or something that almost put them out of business and now they are pretty much starting over and waiting on a bigger facility to deal with the backlogs and the demands for there tops.

No way in HADES I'm forking over that kind of money up front w/ a 6 month wait, as a credit card will only give you 60 days to dispute the charge....if anyone does, they are stupid. Now a deposit might be a different story....if you've never seen a Can-back they are nice and you do pay for it. I will have one eventually...

in the edited version of my reply -> "nope" that is what I meant. I love the tops and will hopefully get one sometime, but not until the lead time is drastically reduced.

Something to look at might be a truck bed cover. You'd just have to cut some holes in it for the roll bar. They only cost about $200 and I think they look pretty neat. I'd like one so that I can take the top off my 4runner and not worry about rain and dust getting in, and keeping my stuff from getting stollen.

Id want to make it be able to cover the entire open area so you can keep rain (and people) out entirely.

It's in the Gear Reviews section.
