Steering Wheel?

Ok, i hate the crappy plastic stock steering wheel. I would like to replace it with a nice leather steering wheel. My question is how does the steering wheel mount to the steering column? I would like to go with a sterring wheel from another toyota or lexus, being that they would mount the same? My brother has a 04 Corolla-S, and i really like that steering wheel, would one from that car work (not his, but a corolla-S one that i could take from a junk yard). Or maybe a corolla-XRS. If not, maybe from a lexus RX300 maybe, being that is a truck (sorta hehe). Another concern is that my truck doesnt have airbags, and the newer steering wheels would. Could i maybe take out the airbag since i cant use it anyways, and do it without ruining the steering wheel? Besides airbags are very expensive, and i dont need it.

You can do that. take off the center cap of your wheel and you'll find a large nut that you have to remove in order to pull the wheel. you can replace with most any toyota/lexus wheel, but getting one that's with an airbag will be BIG bucks. you can probally get a newer wheel w/o the bag then get a dummy cover to fill the middle.

Or get an aftermarket one. (Just an example) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33704

Or how bout this?!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33704

- By the way, in the pics of the second one (the toyota one) if you look at the back side you see the bolts that hold the cover on. Remove these to remove the cover and get to the nut on the column. WARNING: If you ever pull an airbag wheel off an actual car - be sure to disconnect the battery first. It can go off and you can get seriously hurt. Werd. You really can't take out the airbag, but you can just leave it in there, what's it hurt?

I just got a nice Grant Carbon Fiber wheel to replace that bright green one I had for $31 (43 after shipping.) Looks brand new, hard to beat a deal like that. Gotta love Ebay.

Did you have to buy an adapter or do they bolt on?

Warning!!! Simply disconnectiong the batt. is not enough to disable the air bag on some vehicles. Most SRS computers have a reserve power source that is capable of keeping the system active long after the batt. has been disconnected. It is vital to follow the manufacturers procedure for disabling an air bag system.

I priced the adapters( APC & Grant) this weekend and they are dirt cheap really compared to like the HKS & MOMO ones but any way can an apc Steering wheel be mounted with a Grant adapter? I noticed the adapter numbers were similar APC 6053593 Grant 3593.

The extension hits your pocket @ 39.95 but hey u always have ebay.
