so i go to install my cam today....
actually it was fri and just got the truck back today. I went to a local toyota to install an crane cam, low torque. it turned out to be a 13 hour night mare.... ok heres a list of things that was found when they were doing the cam. streched head bolt, blown vale gasket, head gasket came unaligned, it was on it way out anyways, timing chain assembly, laking oil from the crank pulley, thermostat. TOTAL=1500 - toyota Emp discount = 847.97 Which is good in a way. Everything else was in good condition, rocker arm assembly, valves, (slight tick) but what you want at a 150k motor? Motor was decarbonized, valves adjusted. The cam is a great product. Its something really you can feel can my 22re feel more responsive. I can feel it in the 2800to 3200 range. Its like a sudden kick. Im still running 4.10 and i am very happy with it. but if it was just a cam install, it would be 180. Up next are my ecu upgrade and 5.29 gears with a lockrite diff, ecu ill do and ill get the gears installed for 480 front and rear. Working at toyota really has its benefits
