How do you check if the oil level is low in your 2nd gen. supercharger?

 

You don't. The nose is designed for a 100,000 mile service life before it requires a rebuild or service.

Keep in mind that it requires you remove the supercharger to removed the nose...

 

What is the hex bolt for that has the painted seal on it in the front nose area?

 

Take a look at the pdf sheet. That is where you fill the nose, but the supercharger has to be off the rig with the hex bolt pointing up. If you remove it with the charger on the rig, oil is going to flow out and you will be screwed.

 

Believe it or not I just went out and unscrewed the hex and no oil came out, and I could not see any pool of oil inside the gears.
The reason for my post is because 3 days ago my s/c started sounding like a coffee can full of marbles being spun around.
I have 200,000 miles on this s/c, most of it earned by towing a 2000LB+ construction trailer. I have never preformed any maintenance on the s/c.

 

It sounds like you are due for a rebuild then TRD offers rebuilt nose assemblies on a core trade in basis. Take a look at; http://www.trdusa.com/installMan.asp...-17620-226.PDF
